Review: Tube Research Labs Dude Tube preamp
Nice account and easy read. Thanks. nice rig as well..... better than all those in the list top to bottom, or in just some respects?Several of those you have on your list I have either heard or owned, and it is sufficiently interesting enough to m...
On one leg or two legs?
EG., see my post above for starters. Are or is this cable using twisted pairs?? In essence, did you simply run one cables then to use as a dedicated line for such a circuit? Did you keep the positive (hots) still twisted together? Same for the Neut...
On one leg or two legs?
if two lines are in use... or ever how many... and all are dedicated to the system... Use the same phase.Using differring phases (sides of the breaker box) intorduces possible issues, with one right off being a possible problem. Each phase in that...
Front wall treatment
I've had very good success with the use of curtains. Not too heavy. Not too thin. Going with enough fabric to be 1.5 to 3 times the rod length produces enough folds to act as difusion. About two to three inches off the wall are where mine will win...
Supporting Local Audio Stores are we?
GodblessI'm sure you know this, but I'll say it anyway...hype = sales. Latest & greatest (?) = Sales.System synergy (or lack their of) = salesMoney woes = sales... also likes and dislikes, etc. all equal sales. Popularity too accounts for merc...

$80 ?I don’t think you’re actually stepping up over the CL card that way.I think cost is an issue for you for now. If so, and it is for me too now and then, I'd go with as good a firewire or USB (outboard) PC soundcard for now. I have one of those...
Review: PS Audio PS Audio Duet AC filter
JrunrSorry it took so long to get this down... If everything was plugged into the same outlet/ckt before, it should all be fine now.Whenever you can split the load off of a ckt to lessen the draw, your likely gonna notice some changes, even if mar...
Looking for a great el34 based amp
If you'd care to step up by using mono blocks that step will prove itself a noteworthy one indeed. For a SET like sound with some horsepower, the Thor PA 30 or later monos are incredible.... Made exceptionally well, but no maker support. Can be had...
First Steps into Computer Audio
Drubin Agreed. I'm in no mood, nor hurry to make changes in the HDD digital pile up going on around here.I'm still experimenting in fact... I'm also receeding from living on the bleeding edge tech wise too.maybe on the next gear-go-round I'll look...

Tok20000 Please tell me how you rip 16/44.1 CDs to a 24/96 format?or anyone else for that matter.et al... I'm not so sure the inference that USB sucks is either truthful, or appropriate.I say this only becuase what I'm getting via a USB DAC sounds...
Predicting the AGon economy?
I think some folks (newbies, mostly) who have stumbled onto this site, or been turned on to it by other members, have their expectations out of proportion… as was said…. Or are simply over valuing their offering (s).The absence of a sale will be e...
Predicting the AGon economy?
High end Audio seems to be like the Beer and Wine markets… recession resistant, but not recession proof.By and large, my take on sales, postings and pricing especially, seems overvalued by those newer entrants to this website. Those with more time...
From Kef's to ??
SR 15's aren't bad at all. The better the upstream lineup, the better they do. $650 - 750, used.Above that I'd agree with saving up just a bit more and being satisfied rather than leap froging my way along.
Which Power amp best for home theater?
Neither. Keep looking. eg., Sonofjim
Most overlooked part of your system?
Mattcone Definitely, go with 20A. While that's going on add in a good outlet... or two, making for a four gang power portal. Hospital grade or up.... Porter, Oeida, etc.One never knows.Wires do make a diff. How much depends on you, your gear, and ...
