New amp or new cd player?
Farjamed Uh, IMO Monster cables are Monsters… but that’s just me.I feel they, as well as the lack of synergy in a previous system were responsible for the outcome of that rig… which wasn’t good.Right off I’d think long or hard about what I want to...
Is J River MC 12 slow for you too?
Gmood1Well, here we go again... not your fault so don't worry... that accessibility software I mentioned earlier? It has to be supported on 'whatever OS' for it to run. Without it, my PCs are doorstops or platers.I saw no support for the Windows 7...
Is J River MC 12 slow for you too?
Well, for the most part, many if not all special video effecs, images, views, etc., destroy my accessibility software immediately, or the OS hangs & crashes. If you'd care to get with me later on I'd be interested in seeing more on your config....
Tubed Pre question?
Given your tastes in music, I'd say SS amp + tube pre.I had such a setup, and went all tubes thereafter.I do prefer all tubes, but with some music having the authority of SS driving and controling the speakers is a very good thing. The right tube ...
Can a single LFE output be split to L/R sub inputs
Yes. many LFE inputs are one of the two stereo ones... usually the left ch.Keep in mind though, splitting up & out a single mono signal into two ch. isn't going to help much in the end.Coming out of my HT receiver with only one LFE output, I w...
New amp or new cd player?
Personally, I’d change those interconnects first. Maybe a power cord as well. Not familiar with the Onkyo CDP, but a great source is key to having a great system… so starting there isn’t a bad idea.Doesn’t Gallo make a sub unit for that speaker sys...
On one leg or two legs?
No problem. That's why I also added that link... to help make sure.
Most accurate sub under 1,500 used
So far, I'd say a DD15 too.... or a DD18 if you can swing it.... but your room should determine which, as much as your wallet.
Need Some Educated Advice...For a Newbie Tuber
The above notes on the minor tweaks initially listed are sure good ones. I too would begin there.Cabling thereafter. Interconnects mainly. Then a good rack. Then… what ever and where ever you wiah to spend some dough.
On one leg or two legs?
NEC Codes might have been updated in the past few decades, but back in the 70s and 80s, the specs i noted here were acceptable.... passing inspection everytime. I've never been red tagged following an inspection... well, when I was a practicing sp...
On one leg or two legs?
RE amp loadWith stranded wire the jacketing or insulator, can allow for an increase in current carrying, over that of solid wire of the same guage. For ex. a #14 stranded THHN will carry the same as a #12 solid romex.RE Python VX vs. Taipan helix ...
Wilson Sophia 2's on Marantz Reference
As much as I've been recently informed of greater speakerage providing great realism, it's quite doubtful I'll realize any level of loudspeaker mfg. whose retail is beyond 10-12K.that's pretty real for me. So I just stay out of those rooms & p...
Acoustic Treatment Newbee
If I understand this right... you have a recessed bay window in between the speakers? That pocket is allowing sound to collect within it, and might explain why your tones aren't displayed accordingly. When I had a really big box TV in between my spe...
Best way to convert adjustable shelves?
You are welcome.I was thinking too, if the side walls of the rack aren't thick, you might wanna think about adding a strip of wood into that area to bolster the support. Merely ripping some or having them ripped and using a very good wod glue ough...
