Zu Essence vs B&W
I don't listen to the kind of music you do however I think the Essence should be on your list. My concern and reason I sold them was with the lack of mid intimacy coupled with the ribbon being a little on the hard side.I do listen to Floyd and for...
Purist aqueous vs Venustas IC
IMO your CD player should cost at least four times that of your interconnects. It seems you might be heading in the other direction. Change the CDP, or look at other components too. What is the source of your discontent?
1K used monitor with wide/uniform dispersion
Reynaud. Do some searches. I don't know about the NAD though. Maybe a lower powered Rega or a tube integrated.Good luck and keep posting.
Zu Essence vs Devore Nine vs Maggies
I use a VAC Avatar SE with NOS Bugle Boy tubes. I'm very familiar with this amp and don't think it was the culprit. I also tried a little 10 watt or so Luxman tube integrated. I hesitate to say what I find engaging at the 3-5k price range because ...
Zu Essence vs Devore Nine vs Maggies
I had the Zu Essence for while. They are very dynamic and can play all kinds of music including stuff like Pink Floyd with authority. I ultimately found that I was not engaged like I've been with other speakers. I like a speaker that can make musi...
Art Dudley's Audio Note AN-E SPe He Speakers
Good info on Audio Note on the Amherst Audio site. No affiliation.
B&W 801 vs 803s
Is this some sort of Zen koan? I'm just saying we will never hear the same. In these forums I think it is important to convey your personal experience to other members, again, as this is what a forum is.Agreement is less important than sparking a ...
B&W 801 vs 803s
"There are a number of brands I don't care much for, yet I will rarely if ever even comment on them."That's kind of weak. What is a forum if you don't have some level of disagreement and challenge other thoughts? We don't all have the same ideals ...
Zu Essence vs. any Emerald Physics CS series
The Zu's are really good. I have not heard the Emerald.
Best Integrated Under $3000
I've owned a few of the above and would rate the AX7e on top, 6300 second, luxman next, and last the Sim I5.Ayre is clean, clear, musical, powerful. A little thin if your speaker is thin.6300 warm, not as focused, good power and looks, a lower-end...
Ayon spirit vs audio research vsi-60
I think you should buy them both and start another threat titled:The Austrian Hunk of Burning Love vs. the Minnesotan Monster, or something. It seems after posting so many threads on an amp you owe it to the community to conduct the shootout. ;) P...
best Integrated amp under 4000$
VAC Avatar SE. I changed out the stock tubes with NOS Bugle Boy (don't remember specifics). Are you sure a tube amp can drive those speakers? 87db, do you know the impedance curve? Can you try to bring a couple of amps home for a few days?
best Integrated amp under 4000$
I had the VSI-55 and found it had a great 3d picture and great bass authority. I eventually found that I wasn't listening to the cd's in my collection that have great vocals, soloists, or small jazz. I think it had to do with a slight lack of mid...
battery powered with 'vivid' sound
I love the idea of battery power for many reasons but agree that there is something lacking. I had a RWA amp and found I listened to less music as the days passed. At first the noise floor and staging were impressive but after a while I found it d...
EL34 differences in air & stage depth?
I have the SED Winged C's in my VAC Avatar. They are many strides ahead of the Shuguang tubes imo. I would like to try some of the NOS tubes I read about but they would burn too big a hole in my wallet if you know what I mean.I haven't tried any o...
