Why do McIntosh come with cheap plastic remotes?
It should be made of titanium and have mini-me meters with an option to turn them off.
Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking?
Luxman, Ayre, Nordost, Verity. Two years stable. If money were no object I would surf higher on the Luxman wave.
Nordost QB8
I have the QX4 and QB8. I'm not sure about my configuration but have the manuals if you want me to look at the recommended setup. That's what I went with.
Nordost Dawn LS Series Speaker Cables
When I changed my cables from Frey 1 to Frey 2 my dealer threw in a couple sets of Red Dawn 2 interconnects. I found them very close to the Frey 1. I had them both connected to my dac (1 was XLR the other RCA). The only thing that skewed my abilit...
Rembering the 80s: College Rock
The NYC dance clubs were fun in the 80's.
Can audiohile be done on the porch
My tree house system is approaching $30k and the sound is getting very good. Only problem is the McIntosh meters attract mosquitoes.
Fake RRP on cables. A Joke
Just did a search 3/10/14. Vin2000, audiogon member selling Nordost cables due to financial hardship. Who buys a 3k speaker cable before going into financial hardship 30 times each year? He's a shady dealer or has a connection and is making $300 t...
Anyone knowledgeable on the Mastersound 300B SE?
Awesome amp. I had one in my house powering a pair of devore super 8's and later a pair of nines. 24 watt's with not too much to double down on so be careful to pair with the right speakers. Smooth, detailed, full of bloom but not a dull bloom. Be...
Audio Research pre-amps?
ARC sucks. Sad you have to hear this but it sounds like you understand. I've tried them as I've worked for an ARC dealer. They're smooth but tinny. Right?
Can a tiny silver bowl affect music reproduction
Tgb, yes the SR bowls. Perhaps you are correct about the power of suggestion. Just reading through this threat again makes me want to pack a tiny silver bowl.
Can a tiny silver bowl affect music reproduction
One can understand how to set up systems extremely well. If that someone adds an esoteric product and sets it up even better, is it the product or the ability to understand room dynamics really well? I've been in a few of these rooms and even help...
Nordost Vahalla or Tyr II
The 2 series is more warm/liquid while being even more detailed. I agree with Xti16's assessment on the cables. It depends on personal preference.
Tweeter type and brightness
I've always gravitated toward silk dome but even some of those can be bright. I hate to say it but you usually get what you pay for.
David Gilmour's Astoria Studio: Amazing Interview
A nice focus on some of Tim de Paravicini's work. I've always enjoyed his gear. Very special.
