Ever have a CD avalanche like losing at Jenga?
Never found any cracked cases. I am starting to think seriously about computer audio but since I am too lazy to put my CD's away I am also too lazy to tackle the task of ripping a couple thousand CD's. The prospect of better sound beckons, though....
Biggest impact on you?
My second pair of Advents added to the first pair in 1983. One pair of Advents was a good stereo but Double Advents made for a transformation to the big time and were still pretty cheap. They had impact, too. My landlords and neighbors reluctlantl...
S/N ratio vs. dishes and stupid cats.
I do have a man cave but it is stuffed with motorcycles and bicycles that cause unwanted metallic-sounding reflections from the Double Advents in there.
Wouldyou have another brand speaker next to mains
Ooh, Advents! Sorry, off topic. I am easily distracted.
My audiophile take on the symphony last night.
Herman,It was my first time and next time we are going to get floor seats closer to the orchestra. As far as soundstage-I always get the perfect seat at home!
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals?
You can see a casual and intimate performance of theirs at Livefromdarylshouse.com-Daryl Hall (Hall and Oates) is a big supporter and host many artists at his home studio and you can see some of the performances at his site. Check the show archive...
PSB Stratus Gold upgrade to PSB Synchrony One
I have to agree with Jaybo. I went from Goldi's to Synchrony Ones and ended up underwhelmed and sold them. I found the Goldi's to play really loud and soak up as much power as I could give them while displaying a wide, deep soundstage and very imp...
Buying Tubes Again; Maddening
Thank you Stanwal.
Every so often it happens ...
"Nothing special?" Shut up! That looks like an awesome and well balanced system to me. From your comments I would assume you are experiencing the elusive synergy.
Looking for Integrated Amp for Dynaudio 1.3 MkII's
I have the NAD M3 and right before this I owned a Wyred4Sound STI-500. My speakers are power loving Usher BE-718 monitors similar to your speakers. The NAD is (for me) much more satisfying for my taste and system synergy. It also has the outstandi...
Best travel destinations for audiophiles
For a shorter music lover trip go to Monterey for the Jazz Festival and steep yourself in jazz for three days straight. If you like that kind of thing. Sometimes September is fog-free. Be sure you go to the Aquarium while you're there. Then take a...
It's Sunday afternoon...what wax is on your table?
Lemon Pledge on the table. I'm a lowly CD guy.
Using speaker cable as jumpers
I made jumpers out of 8TC by cutting off about four inches from the ends of my speaker cables. I heat shrinked 'em and bent them into a "U" shape-they're pretty stiff-to line up with the holes in the binding posts on my speakers. They work great a...
What is Warmth?
Isochronism, nice refernce. Alas I'm relegated to mere Ti and clinchers.
Good speakers with the NAD M3
I have Usher BE-718's powered by the M3 plus a pair of JL Audio F110 subwoofers and it sounds really good. Works out well because I use the M3's bass management feature to roll off the lows to the monitors and go full range to the subs in stereo. ...
