Why do you Pick a Certain Speaker producer?
I bought the "new and improved" version of a speaker I really enjoyed, thinking I would like it better. Flawed logic. Blew a wad of cash on that mistake. Come to think of it I've done that twice now. Duh. Unfortunately a manufacturer's design phil...
A very successful DIY outrigger project.
The PSB's never floated my boat. I found them uninvolving and unconvincing and polite. Before those I had Stratus Goldi speakers which I really enjoyed-they were bombastic and fun in spite of their flaws. The Synchronies were way too "refined" for...

I can still use the stock spikes front and rear to lock in their position. Just using the spikes in front now.
What was your first tweak?
My first tweak was adding sensory deprivation when I put my stereo in my closet, sat inside in the dark with the door closed and my headphones on listening to CSN's Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. I listened to every single note on those guitars, individua...
DnB and Electro
Crystal Method, William Orbit, Underworld, Propellerheads, Michael Mayer, Kruder Dorfmeister (Tosca). Got Pandora? They have a DnB section you can set up and then you'll hear a bunch of variety. I play that while I'm at work sometimes and make not...
A very successful DIY outrigger project.
Timrhu,Okay so I hastily added a couple pics of the speakers with the outriggers to my system pics as you requested. I think the Soundocity outriggers work really well but I don't want the extra height they give to the speakers in my setup. Plus, ...
A very successful DIY outrigger project.
I might be clever enough to build the outriggers but I'm not clever enough to know where to post a picture. Besides, they really do blend in to the carpet. From the listening position they are invisible.
Great Organists in Rock
Billy Preston. He played with Little Richard and The Beatles so that should make him a rock organist as well as his other exploits.
Adding a sub - what will I loose?
In my opinion (gotta qualify here) you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. As long as it (or they in my case) is properly integrated it can be a wonderful addition. My JL Audio subs won't work the way you're going to do it but if you're m...
How's this for synergy? of events
Nice to see some of us have fun with our hobby and not always fretting about hum or if our cables are properly elevated off the carpet. 6:30am, Cecilia Bartoli's Vivaldi album, an Eno-like looper who calls himself Lusine, last solo listening sessi...
How do we remember 1970s amplifiers?
I seem to remember Phase Linear amps had a reputation for catching on fire. That made an impression on my memory.
Rolling Stone Mag 100 Greatest Guitarists
Hard to pick the best without getting all serious about it.I vote for Wayne Campbell. "Party on, Garth!"

Martinmobile, if we drink barleywine I won't be able to drink my Centenario Anejo Tequila in between beers because I'll snooze right through the killer jazz-not embarrassed to admit that's happened before! Alas, had Pizza My Heart last night and p...

I haven't visited any hifi shops for a while but you can check out The Analog Room, Century Stereo, and Audible Arts. Hopefully they're all still around.
