Was this Technics set up for Radio or Nightclub?
How about a link to your post on the Hoffman forum. I can't imagine that being used in a radio station with those flimsy looking legs but it doesn't make for a very portable DJ setup either. BillWojo
Reel to reel , is it real the hype!
Just getting a great tape deck isn't going to do anything for you unless you have some very well recorded tapes. Really good tapes are very expensive unless you have a line on getting recordings from master tapes. At that point if everything is ri...
SUT Advice - Which Ones Are The Best?
This avoids yet another pitfall of SUT, trying to sell for used something hardly anyone wants to buy new. Take a bath, you will! That's why I buy used, if I get it at a good price and don't like it for what ever reason I can resell it and not l...
Aren't you sorry you missed out on this one? It's already sold out! LOL
I doubt they had a 1000 units in stock or manufactured yet, they are probably just sold out of the latest shipment. The most expensive part of that table is the finish, aside from that it looks to be another cheap belt drive table. I'm sure that e...
The value of embellishment?
There are lots of expensive turntables out in the market place that are more about "bling" than great engineering. Some of them look like a high school machine shop class run amuck. Stacks of turned and polished aluminum bits and pieces joined tog...

MY SONIC LAB Cartridges
Dover, Duraluminum is just one of the many compositions of aluminum, basically it's 2024. Commercially pure aluminum is very soft and weak, not useful for much of anything. When I used to make parts for my racing motorcycles out of aluminum I woul...
Russco, QRK, Sparco, Garrard, Thoren, Fairchild, Roberts
Glad to hear that your on the road to recovery. Hopefully I pick up my parts this week from the powder coating guy so I can start reassembling everything. Andy, my plinth builder who hangs out on AK did some testing on my Delrin tipped brass setsc...
Upgrade Turntable or Cart
Yea, I could never figure out switching to different carts for different music types. A good cartridge should play anything well. BillWojo
Question on Denon DL-103 retipping options and preferences
@justinrphillips: I agree totally with what tkr says. Plus a LOT of folks like the Denon "house sound", it's why it's so popular. I started with a Denon DL-103 because of all the great things that I read about it and to me it didn't disappoint. S...
Question on Denon DL-103 retipping options and preferences
I have more than a few of the DL-103 variants that I purchased with broken cantilevers. Average price is about $80 bucks so the real cost is in having one rebuilt to my specs. There is a DL-103, DL-103R, DL-103D all waiting for Steve at VAS Audio ...
If I could afford, I’d purchase 100% Oswald Mills Audio gear

Russco, QRK, Sparco, Garrard, Thoren, Fairchild, Roberts
Well this project is finally moving again. I found a fellow in Texas (master wood worker with a keen interest in idlers) that would build a nice plinth for me. It's detailed on this post on AK.https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/russco...
Quantum Science Audio Thread
"What about the electromagnetic wave that travels from source to load? "Could you explain that to me? First I ever heard of that. Where did you get the information from, trying to learn here.ThanksBillWojo
who do i contact to make custom plastic cassette cases and shells?
Unless you can find the original injection molds for those cassette cases your in for a rude awakening on having new molds built. Plastic injection mold are not cheap. The original molds were probably at least 24 cavity and designed for a fast cyc...
