Help with cartridge Chakster is a Denon hater, every chance he gets he puts the DL-103 and it's variants down. If you go on the internet and check around there is a whole lotta love for it from many folks out there. My favorite reports are from the folks that started...
Help with cartridge Soundsmith may be great but has a very long turn around time. VAS turned around two carts for me in two weeks. He also has a very good reputation as well and is recommended in many threads.https://vasnyinc.com/repair-service/Billwojo
Help with cartridge I just had my DL-103S serviced by VAS, he installed a new fine elliptical stylus on the original cantilever. I wonder why the DL-103S was so costly compared to the base line DL-103. I have seen Denon describe the DL-103S as having a "special ellip...
Help with cartridge Could also be a DL-103S as the DL-103D looks the same. You will need to remove the cart and look at the model number on top.Not sure where you are located but I would check with VAS in Cliffwood, NJ for a price on getting it repaired. I just had t...
high quality turntable with built in phono at $1000? High quality turntables don't usually have built in phono preamps. That's a feature found on cheaper units to make them "plug and play" for the general masses. Tell us what your looking to use this table for and why having a built in phono pre is ...
Still in search of things to do? And than he sold it on Ebay as "good condition, minor speed issue" LMAO. That was hilarious. ThanksBillWojo
So many great golden era DD tables out there, what do you recommend for $1000? Can’t have his number until it gets safe enough for me to go through his stacks of gear. LOL In the US they sold the QL-A7 in a piano black finish, the Japanese market had the wood finish. So it is a 120vac model. The black finish looks very class...
So many great golden era DD tables out there, what do you recommend for $1000? I found it on AK's Bartertown. One of the members had it and I expressed interest. He brought it along to an AK get together at a members house and I was stoked, it looked beautiful. He had advertised it for 300 bucks and when I reached into my po...
So many great golden era DD tables out there, what do you recommend for $1000? Edgewear posted "As far as I know Micro never moved from direct drive to belt drive. They simultaniously offered a range of direct drives (DD-series) and belt drives (BL-series). That being said, they went much higher end with belt drives (RX- ...
Bare cartridge design, Sumiko Blackbird Low Output I'm with chakster on this, that cart is way to easy to damage with virtually everything exposed. I just had a Denon DL-103 installed in a wood body and that thing makes me nervous to handle. Not used to mounting a cart without a stylus guard in pl...
Reasonable moving coil cartridge Ok, I picked up the DL-103S with a worn stylus for 100 bucks, the DL-103 with broken cantilever for 80 bucks, seller gave me a wood body that he never used with it as well. So 180 bucks for two rebuildable carts. Got a new fine elliptical replaced...
Custom Plating for amplifier faceplate......any possible problems Some of the vintage gear had copper faceplates and they looked awesome. Can you show a picture of the finished project?I made a set of Model 19 Altec crossovers for my Altec project, stand alone, made the control panel from 1/8" thick brushed bras...
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses? You want high end fuses? Try companies like Bussman, Littlefuse, etc. They manufacture fuses to very strict tolerances and industry standards. No way in hell would I put some "magic" fuse in any of my gear! This crap reminds me of the morons that ...
Reasonable moving coil cartridge I've been MC curious for a few years now but have been put off by the high prices and all the talk about how you don't really experience what a true MC cart does until you get above the $1000 price point. So it's always been on the back burner...
Do any still use an older high end tuner from the past?.... I use a highly regarded Harman Kardon Citation 18 tuner. Works very well, looks great and the build quality is mil spec. Introduced in 1977 for $595.00 and only sold in very limited numbers for 2 years. I lucked out and found mine on CL, the owner... |
