How to tame... See doctor now.He should be able to get you ear plugs custom fit for you. They make some that, supposedly, mute the SPL evenly throughout the audible spectrum. THis way you can still fully enjoy the concert without sharing in the hearing loss of th...
Suggestions for lower priced pre/amp The NAD/NHT combo is a big bang for the buck and a good pairing in most cases.I like the NAD integrateds better than the Cambridge.I like the Cambridge CDP's better than the NAD.As stated above, just preferance though. No good/better/best among th...
Suggestions for lower priced pre/amp NAD C372 has what you are asking for. But, why not just use one set of speakers for both TV and music? Is the seating area off center from the television?
Multi channel preamps That Switchman looks awesome. That is it.Have you listened to it?THoughs/oppinions?Thanks!
Multi channel preamps Both good suggestions. The Linar looks like the closest thing.I have heard the Sony and it is a fine processor for the money.I'm really interested in a unit that has no internal processing though.I think that the advent of 6.1 and 7.1 (and the poss...
Any suggestion? Audio Refinement (YBA) is no longer in production. The Complete integrated is a huge bang for the buck new.Spirit Sound has bought up all of the remaining AR stuff.I talked to Dick yesterday and he is easy to deal with.Give him a call (413)584-9547...
Electrostat transparency from conventional speaker A good tweeter can give you the same immediacy as an electrostat but there is no real substitute for the type of sound that an electrostat produces. A ribbon tweeter or a magnetic planar speaker could give some of the same magic I guess.
Any Thoughts on KEF's new IQ line? All of the iQ line and older Q line are faux wood veneers. At that price I would question the guts if it had real wood veneer. From 3ft or more you would be hard pressed to tell that the veneer aint real.If you want something real to gripe about it ...
Any Thoughts on KEF's new IQ line? Yes they are good.If you are going to do surround sound I would stay away or at least rethink. The center channel and surround speakers that "match" the iQ9 are a significant step down from last years version. However, three iQ3's would work nicely ...
Am I the only one Yes, you should deffinately scrap your current system for one that better matches your cables. I recently got rid of all of my CD's so that I could buy a single original DAT recording of my favorite song. Wow! what a difference it made in the soun...
sub-woofer with ML Summits I assume that you have played with the 25 and 50Hz level controls on the Summits. Once placed right, broken in and dialed in they should be sufficient by themselves. A pair of Depths or Descents could take a little stress off of teh Summit woofers...
Control cable supplier other than RadShack? CAT-5 with chopped up mini-plug cables works pretty well.Shorting will not be a problem if you strip back enough of the outside sheathing on the mini-plug cables and use lots of electical tape. Because the CAT-5 conductors are solid it makes it a ...
upgrade suggestions please NHT 2.5i is killer. The 3.3's are for sale right now as well.Set up properly (according to the manual) they would both take up about the same amount of space. The 2.5 should be off of the wall by around 14 inches while the 3.3 (a much deeper speake...
Advice For Audio Refinement + Vandersteen Combo? I use a Complete to power the NHT 2.5i's (86db efficient, 6ohm). Teh 2.5i's have a pronounced mid-bass bump regardless of amplification (if improperly set up). With the Complete the bass is tight, articulate, and prodigious down to their LF corner... |
