A Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood is in your budget and IMO has the attributes you're seeking. I put mine on my Technics SL-1200 Mark 2 often to listen to my less-than-perfect records.

Sigur Rós - Odin's Raven Magic, Qobuz Hi-Res.  I've heard of them, but never listened before.  Pretty cool stuff.

Reuben, I never get tired of Heartbeat City and have a number of different copies of it.  I probably need to pull one out today and see how it sounds with my new cartridge.

Sophia is good about backing up their tubes, but my experience was also that they were unreliable.  I no longer have any and stick to buying NOS tubes.

@hilde45 You make a good point.  I know Echo Audio is closed for in-store shopping for the time being, but they have all their inventory listed on their website and offer curbside pickup.  I am staying home and out of shops as much as possible.

Oh, and on your way through Oregon you definitely have to stop at Echo Audio in Portland. By far my favorite Hi-Fi store in the PNW.

Definitely visit Gig Harbor Audio. Check out Hawthorne especially if you're open to used gear. I haven't looked at their website in a while, but I think they post all their used gear there.
