VPI Tonearm connector wire and record tracking
Tzh21y, if you checked all the specs I mentioned above, I would call Mike at VPI before throwing the towel in. The uni-pivot set-up can be a PITA, but when it works, it's great!! If you check my OPs, you will see that I suffered with the set up fo...
VPI Tonearm connector wire and record tracking
Like Strngreen, I own a Classic 3 JMW 10.5i arm. Mike at VPI has mentioned on several occassions that VPI doesn't really buy in to the mechanical AS device. As far as the tone arm wire is concerned, I would put a very small twist on it when connec...

Need to start a collection vinyl must haves.
Oh, I have a question for the Forum. I have read that Japanese pressings are among the highest quality. Where can you buy them? Any web sites??
Need to start a collection vinyl must haves.
Stringreen, I like Norah Jones too, plus I think she's cute. Just curious which CD/album you are referring to??I picked up a copy at Starbucks about 9 months ago. It's the one with Norah singing duets with a lot of other vocalists, like Ray Charle...
High end speakers without bi-wiring?
Ok, well if bi-wiring is now out of vogue, what can you do if you have bi-wired dedicated speaker cables?? My cables are Kimber and they were not cheap. I guess one could simply let two of the four connects just hang loose, assuming they are taped...
Paradigm Signature S8 V2 review
Zugisland, happy to respond, but I think I forget which sale re the S8 I referred to. Please block and copy the paragraph where I refer to the sale, and I will answer your question.
Paradigm Signature S8 V2 review
Zugisland, is your question directed to me: "can you illuminate me as to the sale your were speaking of?" If so, not quite sure what you're asking me about. BTW, even though the S8s low end starts to roll-off at 40-45 Hz, it's really not a problem...
Paradigm Signature S8 V2 review
On Jan. 3, 2011, I posted my comments about the Paradigm S8 v2. After 7 and a half months, I stand by what I said before:"So . . . IMO, the bottom line is the S8 V2 is one terrific speaker. It works well with my ARC tube gear. At the expense of wa...
Can Redbook CD Be Saved
Rrog: "Bifwynne, I have heard some models of Paradigm speakers can sound thin. Have you considered looking into a REL to compliment your main speakers?"The S8s are not so much thin as much as they start to peter out at around 45-50Hz. In most case...
Can Redbook CD Be Saved
Rrog, thanks for the advice. Actually, it's the other way around. My mains are Paradigm Signature 8 v2 (beryllium)speakers, which many find to be thin in the base. In the case of the CD I bought at Starbucks, it just sucked.
Can Redbook CD Be Saved
Rgs92, I'm not familiar with the EMM XDS1. Does it utilize a different type of technology? Any reason it should sound better than the typical CDP? How much does it cost to buy?
Can Redbook CD Be Saved
Tmsorosk, my CDP is an ARC Ref CD-7. My vinyl rig is a VPI Classic (w/Classic 3 arm upgrade), VPI Zephyr cartridge, custom low capacitance phono cables, and ARC PH-7 phono pre. Let me clarify my comment a little. I do have a few CDs that sound rea...
Can Redbook CD Be Saved
I'm reading the various comments with great interest. I'm not sure if the comment about wanting better CD requires better CDP was directed to me or if was just a general comment. If directed to me, I think my CDP is very good quality. As to the co...
No sound in left channel on red LED on in 2ce's
Just a suggestion to get you up and running a little faster. Is there a local authorized service tech near your locale? I own ARC gear and recently blew a bias resister. ARC lined me up with a local tech and the problem was fixed that evening. To ...
