Wyred4Sound DAC-2v2 upgrade
Hi Everyone.  Another satisfied customer here.  Originally had the DAC2 - early adopter.  Then bought the DAC2 DSD SE - which was an enormous improvement (Initially without the femto clock, and later with (the femto clock didn't make any differenc...
Review: Usher Be-718 Monitor
After a long time absent, a brief update.  I now have two pairs of the original Be-718s - and I've upgraded both of them to USA status, with crossovers from GR Research.  The crossovers did improve resolution and bass articulation.  The improvemen...
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Hello Again. For those interested, Six Moons has a review of this now. If anyone out there has purchased one in recent months, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts.Regards,Rob
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Roscoeiii - Thanks. And a little follow up...The improved sound allowed for a change in speaker placement. For years my speakers were pretty much in the corners of the listening room; the speakers were 3.0 metres apart, and the front baffle was aro...
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Mesch - No worries. Apple lossless (ripped CDs) + a few dozen high resolution FLAC files from HDtracks. Again, I really have no experience with other DACs, so can't comment on your existing gear vs W4S. I went for W4S as their amps bettered my pre...
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Hello again,I'd like to be able quantify, however roughly, how much I value the improvement. Quantifying this on some kind of absolute scale seems impossible; however, it might be useful to compare the value of the changes I've made to my system.A...
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Stringreen - Sorry, I haven't heard the Ayre. In fact, I haven't heard any other DACs in my system. At a dealer, I listened to the Berkeley - the comparison was with the onboard DAC in an Electrocompaniet CDP - yes, the Berkeley was way better...b...
Wyred 4 Sound - DAC2 DSD SE - Excellent upgrade
Thanks for the encouragement...I had the original DAC2 for a few years. It was purchased on the strength of my experience with Wyred amps, owning both the ST1000 (in the music orientated system) and a STi500 (in a 2.1 home theatre set-up). Initial...
12' x 14' room; $10k budget for speakers; help
Hi. Noticed your post, as I have a similar sized room, open on one side - and potentially would consider speakers in your budget. I found a trip to a local AV show interesting - the hotel rooms were mostly of a similar scale, some a fraction large...
Usher DMD tweeter upgrade: worth it?
Hello Again. An update, and a substantial change in my opinion. I recently replaced the DMD tweeters with Beryllium ones, while retaining the GR-research crossovers. So now I have two pairs of Beryllium tweetered 718s, one pair with the standard c...
Usher DMD tweeter upgrade: worth it?
Hi Nandric, Yes, I expected the crossover to have a more dramatic impact - it would be nice to think all those high quality parts made a difference. And to be fair KC (hifi223), an Aussie dealer for Usher, feels they made a big improvement. I know...
Usher DMD tweeter upgrade: worth it?
I currently own both the non-USA Be-718s with the beryllium tweeter, and the DMD tweetered 718s with the GR Research crossovers. They are both driven by Wyred 4 Sound amps. The two systems are in different rooms - the rooms have quite different ac...
Review: Usher Be-718 Monitor
USHER SPEAKER STANDS - RWS-708. These stands provide an unexpectedly marked improvement in the sound. Previously I used 30+ kilogram sand filled steel stands (from the Wilson Cubs), with bituminous dots as an interface between stands and speaker. ...
Eventus Audio Metis: Interested In Your Experience
Hi Jcote. I hesitated in writing this, as my impressions were not altogether positive and my experience brief. Here goes...I listened to these at the local Sydney high end dealer, Audio Connection. They were expensive here - around $7000 including...
Integrated amp for Usher Be-718?
Another vote for the Wyred4Sound STI 500. I've been using one for six months. Excellent all round. I'd also strongly recommend the matching stands from Usher for the 718s - big improvement over my old 30kg numbers, in looks and sound.Good luck.
