Best Examples Of Cymbal Decays On A Recording By the way people (especially you drummers): A few years back I was cutting a track in Flora Recording & Playback, a fantastic studio in Portland, Oregon. T Bone has recorded there, as has Bill Frisell, Mavis Staples, REM, The Jayhawks, many o...
Doobie Brothers' drummer John Hartman dead at 72. Soquel, ay @buellrider? A guy I knew moved to Soquel from Cupertino, I used to stay at his condo on the cliffs above the beach, walk down the path to the Pacific Ocean and surf. Love the whole Monterey Bay---I’ve played in places from Santa Cruz t...
Best Examples Of Cymbal Decays On A Recording Ah @rbstehno, but WHAT cymbals? I have A. Zildjians, K. Zildjians, Paiste 602's, and Bosphorus, each of which sounds different than the others. I have recordings made by myself with small capsule condenser mics and a Revox A77 of some of them, as ...
Best Examples Of Cymbal Decays On A Recording On T Bone Burnett’s Truth Decay album (Takoma Records TAK 7080, released in 1980), the song "Driving Wheel" (written by T Bone and Billy Swan) ends side one of the LP. The song comes to it’s end, drummer David Kemper (a fantastic drummer who came ...
EAR 834 line stage I’ve never seen an EAR 912 for sale used. 868’s come up every so often, selling at around $3,000 for the "L" version (line stage only), $4,000 for the "PL" (phono and line).
Help me decide! Marshall & Orange heads for high gain stacking Cool guitarists all now plug into combo amps, not stacks. Stacks are so 70's ;-) .
EAR 834 line stage Oops. $12,900 ;-) .
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear @mbmi: I had the pleasure of working with John Wicks of The Records when after The Records called it quits he embarked on a solo career. We became acquainted after he saw Emitt Rhodes in 1997 perform for the first time in a quarter century, at tha...
EAR 834 line stage Art Dudley reviewed the EAR 868's big bother, the 912 pre-amp. He said it was the first pre-amp he had heard in a long time that filled him with lust, that it rivaled his Shindo Monbrison ($12,9000). The 868 and 912 were both designed and built by...
Parity Dang @rvpiano, 4000 CDs! I know how much wall space that eats up---I have somewhere between 3500 and 3600. My six CD racks (three wide, two high) take up almost an entire wall, floor-to-ceiling. On the opposite wall are the LP's (of which I have n...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear Not at all obscure to fans of Americana artists, but for the rest of ya'll: Larry Campbell was in Dylan’s band for eight years, then went to work for Levon Helm. He not only lead the house band at Levon’s Midnight Rambles, but also produced his G...
EAR 834 line stage I believe the 834 is now pretty old. I have the newer 868, which does not at all match the description @newbee gives of the 834. The 868 weighs 20 lbs., is very solidly constructed---including chassis mounted RCA and XLR jacks, and sounds great.
Parity A related issue is the ratio of the number of LP’s in your music library vs. the number of CD’s/SACD’s, and the relative time you spend listening to each source type.
Whats on your turntable tonight? I'd say metal @loomisjohnson . Rusty used a LOT of distortion, via pedals not tube over-drive. He wasn't a tradition purist.
The Wilson Audio LoKe Subwoofer. All true @onhwy61. For a look at really great enclosure bracing, check out what Jim Salk does in his sub enclosures. He installs a number of different Rythmik Audio sub kits (with 12", 15" or dual-15" woofers) into enclosures of his own design and... |
