Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
I can't say about hi-fi platforms, but maple is the preferred wood for drum shells because of it's desirable (for drums) resonance and timbre. Maple's resonance characteristic is of long sustain (when you hit a piece of maple, it rings for a long ...

One serious bass aficionado I've met on the Planar Speaker Asylum uses 6 or 8 gauge housing wire (Romex, etc.) for his Magneplanar Tympani T-IV bass panels! He powers the panels with a Crown Pro Amp capable of delivering over 2,000 watts to each T...
Worst Rock Band Ever !!!!
New thread for me, and though I haven't read them all (love Harold's nomination of Procol Harum, but for me it was with Matthew Fisher's departure, after which Robin Trower's guitar playing came to the fore, which ruined them for me), conspicuous ...
Dipole Asymmetry
If you can duplicate/imitate the scattering of the sound from the rack & components behind your left speaker with diffusion behind your right speaker, you may be all right. If not, timbral (tonality, coloration) and temporal (timing) differenc...
Cartridge "shoot-out" : Koetsu Jade v SPU v FR7 v London Reference.
Finally the London and Decca cartridges are getting their due respect in the U.S.A.! By Art Dudley in his Dec ’15 Stereophile column, and now by Howard here. Not for the faint of heart, the London Reference is the most dynamic, immediate, and exci...
Cable for my Rythmik F12SE Sub
spoutjack's original question made it unclear as to whether he was asking for a high level/speaker cable recommendation, or a line level/RCA jack cable one for use with a Rythmik sub. My question was intended to get clarification because Rythmik s...
Similar sounding bands.
Well then czarivey, you should know that The Del McCoury Band sounds quite unlike The Steeldrivers, that The Delmore Brothers sounded nothing like The Dillards, that Ricky Skaggs sounds very different Tony Rice, that Alison Krauss sounds little li...
Your first component that was "special"
In 1972 I discovered J. Gordon Holt and his little digest-sized "quarterly" magazine Stereophile. After reading for a year about the exotic hi-fi I had never seen in Northern California (high end seemed to be an East Coast phenomenon), in the Spri...
Cable for my Rythmik F12SE Sub
Depends on the length of course, but I got mine used. I'm not sure what the Hero goes for new. Kimber offers three different RCA jacks affecting the Hero's price, the difference being more in higher frequencies. For bass the cheapest plug----the U...

Ah, okay then the Kimber Hero, great for bass/low frequencies. I use it with my F15HP's.
Speaker Isolation -- Experience with Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
If you don't need the platform of the Townshend podiums, the Seismic Pods themselves are considerable cheaper.
Similar sounding bands.
Any genre can sound "all the same" to a listener not into that genre, including Bluegrass. It takes some listening experience to develop the discernment necessary to discriminate between the practitioners of some music. If one doesn't like a parti...
GRASS ANYONE?
Vegasears has good ones. Also anything on which Jerry Douglas (Dobro) plays. And The Del McCoury Band.
Wave Kinetics NVS Reference Turntable Review on Positive Feedback
Not many. Henry Rollins is one exception, being a customer of Brian Berdan at Audio Elements in Pasadena. His system is comprised of the big Wilson speakers and VTL electronics. I think his table is a VPI with Lyra cartridge.

To the Rythmik's high-level input/binding posts?
