Dolby Deterioration
Speaking of Dolby.....I’ve always been mystified why Tea For The Tillerman is considered to have such good sound quality. I have had an original UK pressing of it since its’ release, and always found the drums to sound very muted---with no snap an...
Sly Stone Fresh Promo LP
Not to be argumentative mc, but not all cutouts are promos, and not all promos look like true cutouts. When record companies would delete a title from their LP catalog, they would punch a hole in the cover or cut off one of its’ corners, then sell...
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
@noble100, I agree, you didn't state that you can't use four Rythmik subs in a swarm type system. Ya know what I didn't say? That you DID say that. Why do you think I think you think you did?
Dolby Deterioration
I found the change in recorded sound between Rubber Soul and Revolver jarring; I much preferred the sound on Rubber Soul, and still do. It wasn't until years later that I read Abbey Road had switched from tubed recording equipment to solid state b...
Sly Stone Fresh Promo LP
It may very well be the real McCoy. Don’t let the fact it is shrink-wrapped worry you; I got many promos that way when I was a buyer at Tower. As for a counterfeit, I sincerely doubt anyone would bootleg that LP. Counterfeiting is not cheap.
Ingress Audio Engineering
@mewsickbuff, I can help ya’ll. Not that I want the credit, but it may have been I who brought Ingress Engineering to the attention of Audiogoners a few years back. I had read Barry Diament’s writings on the subject of isolation, and found his arg...
What a sad world we now live in.......
@glupson, you’re last post (at 8:14pm on 05-16) supports my argument that the even the people who were at one time buying their Garth Brooks CD’s at Walmart are just not buying or listening to albums anymore. Is it that they just don’t care that m...
Tune of the Day
As I was just again listening to "West", its’ hearing brought to mind another song, one I have loved from the first time I heard it at the time of it’s use in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s: "Moon River", written, orchestrated, and conducted by H...
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
All the Phase Control on the Rythmik plate amps is, is a delay circuit; it achieves the same end as physically moving the sub enclosure to a different location. 1ms (the control has millisecond markings) equals roughly 1’. The control can of cours...
What a sad world we now live in.......
I don’t intend for this to sound judgmental, and I may be mistaken, but I don’t think Walmart customers were ever exactly the most music-loving people around. Or perhaps it is that they, like myself, are just not interested in the music that is cu...
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
The plate amps in the Rythmik subs provide all the controls mentioned by @Noble100: volume, phase (180 degrees via a continuously-variable rotary knob), x/o frequency (40-120Hz) and slope (2nd/4th order), plus damping, a rumble filter, one band of...
Whats playing on your system today?
@uberwaltz, I LOVE that you listen to both Shania and Merle. No snobbishness! Hardcore Country purists badmouth Shania (Steve Earle dubbed her "The highest paid lap dancer in Nashville" ;-), but I like her for what she is, not dislike her for what...
Speaker of the Century Award Goes To ....
@atmasphere’s post reminds us of why electronically separating a woofer from the midrange/tweeter drivers can provide better sound; bi-amping, with an outboard x/o over dividing the signal before the two power amps, one amp for the woofer, the oth...
Tune of the Day
Once in a great while I hear a song so special I just keep coming back to it, sometimes listening to it multiple times in a row. "West" by Lucinda Williams is one such song. It closes the album of the same title, and is the most hauntingly beautif...
3 great tube preamps. Which would you purchase?
Now @jred, get yerself the matching VTPH-2a phono amp, and be REALLY happy!
