KLAudio is stopping production of their Ultrasonic record cleaner. As far as I know, Fremer has yet to do an in-depth evaluation of the Degritter.
Whats on your turntable tonight? @slaw, there is a Manfred Mann album from their "Chapter 3" era that I really like. It came out in the late-60's, on the Vertigo label (catalog no. VO 3), and the sound is way above average. The music is in a sort of Jazz-Progressive style, which ...
Whats playing on your system today? Dial ’W’ For Watkins, by Geraint Watkins. Geraint is THE keyboard player in the Roots/Blues/Rockabilly/Hillbilly scene in the UK, and has worked in the bands of both Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe (I’ve seen Geraint live quite a few times), amongst ma...
wide baffles and baffle step Richard Vandersteen sure doesn't like them ;-) .

KLAudio is stopping production of their Ultrasonic record cleaner. The Degritter is half that price, I believe, and appears to be a superior design. The automatic USC cleaners are great for those wanting convenience, but a DIY version can be put together for a LOT less $.
wide baffles and baffle step Danny Richie discusses baffle step loss a lot on the AudioCircle GR Research Forum.
Whats playing on your system today? Ah yeah, The Falcons, another great vocal group, out of which came Wilson Pickett. Robert Ward is legendary amongst guitarists for, amongst other reasons, his playing through the Magnatone, a very unique sounding combo amp. I worked in a band with...
Whats playing on your system today? @northwestmouse, I love The 5 Royales. Do you have a Ravens collection? Love them too!
Blood On The Tracks MoFi UD1S The first for me was John Wesley Harding, but I’m old ;-). Then I liked Nashville Skyline, found Self Portrait fascinating, funny, a real hoot (it was brutally panned by critics, who later realized they just didn’t get it at the time), loved New M...
Recommendations for Vintage Speakers If you ever come upon a pair of FMI (Fulton Musical Industries) Model J’s, buy ’em! Or even the Model 80 (a 2-way box speaker, which served as the midrange of the J), with added subwoofers. Very transparent, natural-sounding loudspeakers.
Blood On The Tracks MoFi UD1S I just wish I liked the album more. I know some consider it one of his best, but not I. I'm tempted just to have what will surely increase in value, and to hear Zimmy's voice and acoustic guitar in hq sound, so guess I'll get it. Better not procra...
Tune of the Day "Keep Your Distance", both versions. With Buddy & Julie Miller’s version you get their wonderful 2-part harmony duet throughout the song. With Richard Thompson’s original, his distinctive vocals and guitar playing (on his solo, he makes his St...
Great sounding/recorded albums The "Born To Run" mud was created via electronic reverb, intentionally. Bruce said he wanted the album to sound like Roy Orbison as produced by Phil Spector. He failed on both accounts. Ironically, Roy’s Monument label recordings possess incredibl...
Wondering about using IsoAcoustics under by GoldenEar Triton One speakers Robert, I have no experience with the GAIA. There are three models of that foot, each of which covers a pretty large weight range (GAIA III: up to 70 lbs., II: up to 120lbs, I: up to 220 lbs). Prices are $199/set of 4, $299, and $599 respectively.... |
