You are invited on a "trip down memory lane".
Damn @tomic601, you had a Dad with Bozak's?! Mine had a Magnavox console. :-(
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
@jfuquay, Magnepan is indeed using multiple small woofers in it's 30.7 For Condos model, eight 6.5" per side to be exact. But they are mounted not in a sealed or ported enclosure, but in an open baffle frame. Can't wait to hear 'em!
Horn From The Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story
@tuberist, if you want to discover a really, really good though relatively unknown (outside of Northern California) harp player, look for a copy of Up The Line by The Gary Smith Blues Band. His tone is insane, as good as I've ever heard, which is ...
Horn From The Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story
While bands like The Yardbirds, Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, John Mayall, and finally Led Zeppelin (except for Hendrix himself, all British fellas) are given credit for the "Blues revival of the late-60’s", it was actually The Paul Butterfi...
Strange film on new records.
Returning a new LP for a replacement will do no good if the film on the LP was there when it left the factory: the replacement copy will most likely be exactly the same. One of the Last Factory products is named "Power Cleaner", and it was formulat...
best low priced bookshelf speakers
@jjjaker, check USAM for the listing of the Super Zero pair.
best low priced bookshelf speakers
A perfect match is a pair of NHT Super Zero's. I have a New Old Stock (still in their factory cartons, unused) pair I was intending to getting around to listing. Let me know if you want me to.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Yup @slaw, that’s exactly to whom the lyrics refer. I can’t overstate the depth of the extremely high regard in which the musicians in The Swampers are held by other "good" musicians. When you hear Jim Keltner---a drummer who is heard on the recor...
Whats your take on a NAD 3020, I truly believe it defined stereo and still does!
Whatta ya know, @tomic601. I used a 1020 pre with a Dynaco ST70 in the mid-80's, a nice little combo. Then I got myself a Frank Van Alstine-modded Dynaco PAS, the quietest tube pre-amp I've ever heard. He used 5751 tubes in place of the 12AX7's.
Linda Ronstadt: The Sound Of My Voice
Too bad Linda never collaborated with Los Lobos!
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Yeah, @noromance. The SQ of One From The Heart is exceptional, audiophile quality. Tom Waits and Crystal Gayle: now THERE’S an odd couple! And Waits Frank's Wild Years, one of my three favorites of his.
Listening for Proper VTA Setting
85 bucks for the Millennium VTA Block?! You can get one on ebay for under three, including shipping.
Sax, piano, guitar recommendations

The equalizer you don't know you have
Loudspeaker designer's don't "tune speakers to their ears." Geez, will ya just watch the Tech Talk Tuesday videos? And then read the writings of Siegfried Linkwitz. You might learn how speakers are REALLY designed, and then shut the Hell up.
What Would You Do with a Sealed, 1st Press Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"?
Yeah, LP outer covers were sealed in plastic shrink wrap in the U.S. at the time, but not necessarily in the UK and the rest of the world. As I said, Columbia Records at that time was also sealing the LP itself inside an inner sleeve that was a pl...
