Whats playing on your system today? Jackson Browne: s/t debut, The Pretender.
It's National "One Hit Wonder" Day! @slaw, perhaps you're too young to have heard it when it was new, but surely you're heard Dion's "Runaround Sue" on oldies radio, not to mention "Lovers Who Wander." To hear him sing a song as no one else could have, give a listen to "(I Was) Born...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report I too run mine balanced out to the balanced ins on my pre. I halfway got it to be able to SACD's as well as CD's. Except for a PS Audio 200C amp, my heaviest piece of electronics!
GRGAUDIO @chakster, good point about Victor's grading. I bought a Zeta arm from him, described in the listing as New Old Stock. The Zeta I received was half of that term. Getting a refund from him was the biggest hassle I've ever experienced in hi-fi buying.
Sandbox Design Advice For the sand, look for Silica. It’s a non-organic man-made product used in sand blasting. It comes in many grades (the size of each particle), from powder-fine to somewhat coarse. I used No.60 in my Bright Star Big Rocks, just the right grade imo....
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music? The typical and common 2-position phase switch (0-180 degrees) found on many subs is far too crude for creating a seamless blend between a sub and a loudspeaker. The continuously-variable control provided on all Rythmik subs is what you want. That...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report The DV-50S is really something, isn’t it @uberwaltz? I bought mine from Arthur Salvatore. Ralph Karsten says the DV-50S is no good, but he likes horn loudspeakers ;-) .
Sandbox Design Advice Bright Star used a space of about 1/2" between the floating platform and the outer box of their Big Rock. In that space was placed a length of foam, to cover the sand. The Big Rock was made of MDF, but I'd use something stiffer for the floating pl...
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible? Not to step on any toes, offend anyone, or slay a sacred (cash) cow, but Wilson Audio Watts/Puppies.
When you’re not here who will inherit your system? Echo Audio.
Ok guys If for no other reason, an LP spinning on a nice table just LOOKS cooler without a dustcover obscuring it.
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music? Four independent subs allows for maximum adjustability and flexibility. The controls on the Rythmik plate amps are the most extensive of any line I’m aware. They include:- Continuously-variable Phase Control knob providing 0 degrees to 180 degrees...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners True Chris, and for one reason: Choosing to go with Decca (and later London) pickups, the best LP playing system to install them in was, and is, the Townshend Rock (for reasons I won’t go into here) That table prohibits the use of a linear tracker...
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music? If you've got the dough! Brian gives a 10% discount on multiple sub orders. That'll help: the F18 sells for $1630-$1850, depending on finish. Sure, why not? You have a big room, so you don't have to worry about overloading it.All the Rythmiks shar...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Brooks Berdan may have mounted more ET arms on tables than any other human. His first preferred table for the arm was the Oracle Delphi, for which he created a mod to keep the table's mass stable as the ET moved across the LP (Brooks had training ... |
