Bobby Whitlock on All Things Must Pass.
Ooh @wweiss, too confessional for me. It's the kinda thing you expect more from a girl singer. John, baby, take it like a man, like the rest of us do. You're not that special.Even more embarrassing was John's drunken behavior at The Troubadour in ...
John Hiatt and The Jerry Douglas Band hit the road!
Yeah Jim, Iris is playing The Aladdin Theater in Portland in a few months. I was planning to attend the show (though I saw her there just last February), but then the Hiatt/Douglas date was announced. That'll scratch my itch for the need of live m...
John Hiatt and The Jerry Douglas Band hit the road!
@grannyring: Thanks for the correction. I don't remember where I read that about Alison and Jerry, it was quite a while back.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
I just found the two albums by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson on LP locally, and though I've listened to only the first released---2008's Rattlin' Bones, I had to tell ya'll about it. Fantastic!I've been a fan of Kasey since the release of her...

@slaw---Steve, some info about The Chocolate Watchband:They were literally a Garage Band, formed in late spring of 1965 in my hometown of Cupertino, California (a suburb of San Jose) and rehearsing in the garage of organist Jo Kemling. You don’t s...

Excellent post @tostadosunidos, agree with your every point.Lennon's solo output is kind of a trainwreck. How 'bout the Rock And Roll album he did (with Spector producing!)? Oy! Terr-i-ble. Starting Over coulda been great (he was originally going ...

Fantastic @tomcy6, just the info I was looking for! I missed that issue of Mojo, a mag I love and for years had a subscription to.As for "unnecessarily gratuitous self indulgent", I don’t know what that means (as least as it is in this context app...
No recommending Solid Tech Audio Racks
That's the racks I have, @stereo5---three of the original Italian-made Solid Steel 4-shelf Model 44. The rack itself is acceptable (the four corner pillars hollow, sand/lead shot fillable), but the shelves are just 3/4" formica-covered MDF---ugh. ...

Yup, ya’ll are of course correct, it WAS Giles Martin, not Dhani. I didn’t pay much attention to those two reissues, so didn’t absorb that info deeply enough to recall it.And I myself haven’t heard about Dhani being involved in the All Things Must...
John Hiatt and The Jerry Douglas Band hit the road!
That's about it for me too, Steve. Iris Dement at The Aladdin Theater last year was $40, drinks $10, I think. Music and alcohol go hand-in-hand. ;-)

Just for the record (no, you know, pun intended): I have no interest in nor see the need for the past remixes Dhani did of Beatle albums (Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road), first and primarily because I'm not that fond of those two albums (a minority opini...
Bobby Whitlock on All Things Must Pass.
Yeah @tomcy6, Whitlock strays off topic a lot in their videos, and CoCo reins him back in. He has a lot of stories to tell, all the videos a lot of fun. Unlike a lot of musicians from the late-60's and early-70's who have foggy memories of that ti...
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's.
Yeah, @tablejockey, mono is the way to go on their albums up through and including Wild Honey, though the Surfer Girl album is a lone exception---the original stereo mix was real good. The same is true of The Beatles up until the white album (thoug...
John Hiatt and The Jerry Douglas Band hit the road!
I admit to being spoiled as a kid. I saw The Beatles for $4.50, and Cream, Hendrix, Albert King, The Kinks, Elton John, the doors, Procol Harum, The Electric Flag, Big Brother, The Beach Boys, and hundreds of others for $3.00-3.50. And The Airplan...
Bobby Whitlock on All Things Must Pass.
Oh no, the 50th Anniversary All Things Must Pass is FAR different from the original---any and all previous issues, analog or digital. Info about the 50th Anniversary is all over the internet, for those who really want to know what it’s about. Lots...
