recomended musical sub for 2 channel audio
I second the Rel Storm III. I upgraded to the Stentor III recently which simply places the Organ "in your room", but short of flattening your chest with the last pedal note (as only the Stentor III can do) the Storm III is the best I have heard fo...
Anyone compared the Rega Apollo...
Jcycle,In answer to your question, I am comparing it to several players in my system including a Lector CDP 7TL, a Musical Fidelity A5, and an Audio Aero Capitole 24/196 all more costly units. The Apollo holds its own against all of them overall a...
Amp or Integrated amp for Quad ESL-63's?
I am currently driving my Quad ESL 63's with a Jadis Orchestra Reference using KT 90 tubes with stunning results. I am running a REL Stentor III full range in conjunction, so I don't have to drive the Quads to quite as high a volume to get an amaz...
Do You Remember Your First CD Player?
1985 Magnavox CD 650 which I still use in my main system in my NJ Beach house system: Jolida 102B integrated driving a pair of Spendor S3/5's with a REl Storm III. Sometimes I think this simple system with the Magnavox bests my big rig in my every...
cd players with volume control
Audio Aero Capitole has volume control with remote function.
Does one NEED multiple amps?
I only allow myself one wife which works really well(and no paramours) sooo I feel free to indulge myself with more than one amp (and more than one pair of speakers as well). I have a Korneff 45 SET with various 45 and 2A3 tubes, a Jadis OR with K...
Does it / Do they pass the wife test? Speakers
I have had Maggie MGA IIIa', Spendor SP 9/1's and SP 100's, tall & thin Soliloquy 5.3's and stand mounted Soliloquy SM 2A3's, and everything in between and then I got a pair of vintage Quad ESL 63's (which normally have a dubious, at best WAF)...
Speakers That Will Party Hard
This may sound like heresy but in my younger days I had a dedicated party room like your friends and had a pair of Bose 901 III's hanging from the ceiling which could really crank out the sounds. On a more audiophile type recommendation, if your f...
Best Integrated for the Money
I "ditto" J Mcfarland's Jadis Orchestra Reference.
Whoever gets those Chapman T-7's just listed
Anyone have any pic's of the T-7's?
Is There any Truly "High End" Integrated Amp?
The JADIS Orchestra Reference with Kt 90 tubes putting out ~ 50 watts is really sweet. I use it to drive Quad ESL 63's and Spendor 3/5's (with Rel Stentor III) to tremendous results.
Where can I get Advent Large Models rebuilt?
If you are in the Greater Phila area Bill Legall of "Miller Sound" in Lansdale, Pa. is a real craftman and can do just about anything with speakers. You can check out an article about him at 6 moons.
What 2a3's Sound Best In Your Amp and Why?
I have an SET Korneff 45 which can also use 2A3's and a Push Pull PVK 2A3 monobloc built around an amazing pair of '50's vintage Chicago outuput transformers. I have experimented with most 2A3s (except the very expensive ~ $1K/pair-but somewhat fr...
Arcam, Musical Fidelity questions...
I heard the A5 out of the box and although it was very impressive I didn't have one of those out of body experiences. However a few weeks later after is had 200+ hours on it, it was the best I have ever heard. I would seriously audition it and and...
Jadis Orchestra Reference + Wilsons
Bezimienny.Did your orchestra Reference have the KT 90 tubes or 6550/KT 88's? I understand that the KT 90's transform the amp. Also sounds like it could benefit from being paired with ultra effecient speakers for what could then be a marriage made...
