How does a preamp die from sitting unused for a few months?
Coincidence...something was on the verge.
Equalizer to compensate for hearing loss - Any success stories?
I was thinking sure you can get an eq and make the same adjustments but looking at your chart it seems that standard eq's can't apply that much gain to the signal.  But you could attenuate the freq's that you hear will and boost the bad ones and m...
Eversolo DMP -A8 Server,Dac, Streamer,Preamp - best bang for the Buck
I've just gotten an A8.  So far very happy with it.  Yeah it has it's little quirks like everything else but it also has a blockbuster of features as noted above.  Kinda unbelievable to be honest.  It's like no stone is unturned.  One gotcha on it...
Here's to the temperate, the gentle, the moderates in audio
Wow...thanks hilde45!  One of the best posts ever.  Inspiration to be more objective myself.
Volume levels
As soon as I read the post I thought...details!  And that's what it's really about in this case it seems.  Which makes sense to me and I'd agree.  Even though the digital version of a piece is based on an analog version, up to a point in time anyw...
"Happy To Be Stuck With You!!!"
I think it's fine to repeatedly mention your gear if you're especially happy with it.  As expensive as it is a kind of an accomplishment to be that satisfied with what you have.  Plus new people to the forum get to hear about it.
Floorstanding speaker experiences/recommendations in the $12-25k range
I don't have experience with them but I've been looking at Legacy lately who use  interesting and fairly unique designs.
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
Optical cable break in?  C'mon now.  Exactly what is there to "break-in"?  Light bounces of the insides of a hollow glass fiber.  The light isn't energetic enough to affect the material.  The rest of it is highly questionable at best and given how...
Transport Recommendations
I'll second @parker65310.  I have the Audiolab.  Sounds, works, and looks great!  Very inexpensive for what it is.
Looking for 200 watt Amp to drive Dynaudio Heritage speakers
If the sensitivity is what another poster mentioned (85) AND they are 4 ohms I'd go a little more power if you really want to get the SPL up with very low distortion.  I like the two monoblocks at 300w each idea the best.  Also and as suggested by...
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"!
45 lbs isn't exactly light/petit it seems.  he he
shy about prices
Back to the original point.  To get pricing on things the quickest, easiest way is to simply google "GE Triton Refs price" for example.  This may not get you exactly what you're looking for every time but it will show you "some" info pretty much e...
Is anybody using the new Afterdark music server?
Its just a computer.  Far from a purpose built piece of audio gear.  Yeah it's purpose is to play music but it's a general purpose device in the end which means much of the architecture is wasted and not designed specifically for playing music.  T...
Denafrips Pontus 2 Price increases
Good news is it wound up being $1700!  He he...I wouldn't mind having my feelings hurt to find out it's NOT going to cost $700 more.
any current integrated amps in market have great dacs?
I'd like to chime in on the AVR part of the discussion above.  I'd have to agree as a person who has a little of everything that given the budget, selling price and design parameters that exist with AVR's you can't really touch esp higher end Int ...
