Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
I have a VPI Classic 1 with Lyra kleos and Zephyr when Kleos is being retipped and never had my woofers and subs pumping. Always had it set on concrete slabs, but I doubt that would make much difference, also use an outer ring but go without it at...
has anybody else noticed this about singers?
Dylan and Janis Joplin are both as painful as chalk on a blackboard to me.

Kevin Ayers resonates with me better than anyone. Duda from Riverside is pretty awesome too.
Are all Audiophiles masocists?
Having only recently entered the gon, I can already tell that it comes at a high risk. On one hand, you can find good basic sound advice, on the other hand, you can find yourself submerged in an unending search for sound nirvana through endless me...
How much space between cables is enough?
Glupson is touching on how I feel about it. Not only would I not like to stare at fishing lines holding cables across my listening room (I apologize but I was being sarcastic about the fishing line weight), but I would also dislike looking at wire...

Whats on your turntable tonight?
Roger waters, amused to death, side 3, unreal sound effects plus Jeff Beck extraordinaire on a magnificent solo.

Does the first reflection point actually matter??
Thanks for that pointer tuberollin.I tried what you did, moved my front sidewall 244's back about a foot, leaving the 1st wall reflection point slightly off to the front of the panel. I observed similar results, a little broadening of the soundsta...
Does the first reflection point actually matter??
In my experience all first reflection points matter, side walls, floor, ceiling, front and back wall, 12 points in all from my calculation. A 40% / 60% ratio absorption / diffusion works well for me. I followed GIK's advice and started with absorp...
Analog or Digital and why?
Analog can sound great if recording was done right, terrible if poorly recorded, mastered, etc...Digital is no different. It all has to do with each individual recording. To generalize is impossible. I have 10 times more vinyl than CDs but while m...
