What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why? Here’s a pair of the Linkwitz LX521’s with the ASP and multichannel amp - ready to go. I almost bought them... but... already had the Orions and couldn’t justify the expenditure for another set of Linkwitz speakers. Not sure the guy has sold them ...
What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why? I must agree with Russbutton, above... very few speakers at any price can best the Linkwitz Orions or LX521s, when properly set up. You get the sound of the best planar speakers with superb dynamics and bass. And... my second choice would be the...
Going to rip 2000 cds. Which software? Oh yes... I would not use any "computer" as a music server - they're not desiged for that purpose and will give you inferior sound (too much electronic interference and noise). Get a real music server from an audio company that specializes in the...
Going to rip 2000 cds. Which software? I use dBpoweramp CD Ripper on my HP Pavilion Notebook PC's. It works well, has all the "bells and whistles," and is one of the highest rated applications for ripping CD's to files. You can choose any file format, but I use FLAC, because it's typ...
Who tried Class D only to return to S/S or Tube Have to agree with "georgelofi" - the "ClassDAudio" (brand) SDS-470C is superb and rivals any "hi-end" amp... after burn in and left on and warmed up. Though, I do vacillate a bit between my JC-1's, Atma-Sphere M60's, and the SDS-470C. Depending...
Has anyone compared the Orion loudspeaker to other I must agree with 01-17-07: Ojgalli - nothing is better for the money!Though, the WaveTouch Audio Grand Teton standmount monitors are "damn' close!" And - just a huge "giant-killer" kind of bargain!
Has anybody had experience with the Orions? Yes... I have the Orion's... and... in a word - "Supreme!"But, you must be able to live with their somewhat ugly appearance (compared to others with great cabinetry), as well as their multi-channel amplifier demands. I found those compromises to b...
What speakers can make a convert of Maggie lovers? I have to agree with 04-05-06: Rkeman above - any of the Linkwitz speakers will meet and exceed your expectations (if you can find them used, or build the kit)... but... so will the Emerald Physics and Spatial Audio speakers. Or, you can have your...
Best budget speakers for near-field/small space My choice, without any question, would be the WaveTouch Audio Grand Tetons (small, standmount monitor) - for a small room / area - if you can find them used to fit your budget.Simply incredible, unbelievable "live, life-like" sound!Second choice w...
Best undiscovered speakers on the market today ? I have 3 for you:1. Magnestand (mofified Maggies)2. WaveTouch Audio Grand Teton's3. Linkwitz Orion's or LX521'sIf you want a real "giant slayer" for a small room (or even a large room): you will not find anything that will beat the WaveTouch Grand...
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you Without a doubt... my choics would be the Linkwitz Orion's or LX521's - just incredible in all respects!Only caveats are: they aren't pretty, so you may have to dedicate a separate room to them to appease your wife... and... they require an active...
Designer Hall of Fame I "second" the comments of 04-28-10: Gchemie above!Without question... Seigfried Linkwitz merits the "Designer Hall of Fame" - for designing the best sounding speakers available... in his Orion's and LX521's - without question!
Preamp Deal of the Century I must "second" the opinion of 02-25-08: Amandarae in his response to Steve's question of what he thinks of the Orion's. Without question... the best speakers I've had, or heard, are the Linkwitz Orion's and Linkwitz LX521's. They "have it all" at...
The best speaker you ever heard? I've heard many of the greats... but... the best I've heard are the Linkwitz Orion's or LX521's - without question!Certainly... the best for the money... especially if you build them from a kit from Madisound.com, or manage to buy them in the afte...
Revel F208s, F52s or Nola Contenders? The Triton 1's have outstanding staging and imaging - very holographic sound! I'd describe them as "disappearing" in a panorama of sound. Very "Maggie" like. But... their highs are less prominent than their bass and mids - which tend to overwhelm ... |
