Low watt tube amps/pros/cons
Ok I see my error. No amp can be all things. That there are tradeoffs with any design. I have my eye on a pr of 845 amps and hopefully one day will own the pr and will report back.
Low watt tube amps/pros/cons
This topic should be in the amp section, but seems no one minds. I've not heard the 845 "set" amp. My limited experience with the 300B , Cayin with Silverline Sonata, was that it was great with light jazz, but even with these high sensitive speake...
Low watt tube amps/pros/cons
Then hows the KT90's compare with the K88's? Or no noticable differences? I mentioned the low performance of the KT88 with classical and the slaesman said that is the character of the KT88 tube, rools off at bottom and top. I heard the new Audio R...
Low watt tube amps/pros/cons
Tvad Apologies if I misread your post. That aside lets get back to the limitations of low powered tube amps. Sure I've not heard the 845, so I cannot judge. I did hear the 300B and it was flat on complex orchestra. I've heard several KT88 amps and...
Your best picks for 2006 Best Speakers under 4K.
Facten , ck the topic I recently posted on my review of the Tyler LSS (Linbrook Sig Sys). I think the speaker retails for $5K, as Ty has a sale on them quite often. To my ears it was the best speaker I;ve heard in my 30+ yrs in audio. No other spe...
Law of Diminishing Returns - CD/SACD Players
Tvad raises a good point. I've heard a big famous tube amp , $$$, and really colors the sound. It wouldn't make much sense to have a $15K Jadis DAC/trans combo hooked up, nor a Capitole. I've also haerd speakers that posses their own strong distin...
Law of Diminishing Returns - CD/SACD Players
Cal good post and reflects my POV. There is a point of diminishing returns. Not to say the super expensive players are not woth the "bang for the buck". If I were spending over $5K I'd look for a used Jadis DAC. But as you say if you can get 90% o...
Spendor s8e Imaging/Soundstage?
Thanks Sean for that review of the Spendor. That was the same impression I had with the 8's. From Sally Renoylds comment on the S8 in her Tyler review, I was expecting alot in the audition, but got little.
Spendor s8e Imaging/Soundstage?
I also listen exclusively to classical. Give us a review when you get the S8"SE". Whats the asking price?

Used tube player is your best bet. Cayin, Jolida, Consonance.

Speakers are the most important. But then which amp will you use with incredible/awesome/"knock-out"/fantastic/UNREAL speakers? Why hook up an amp that compromises these unreal speakers? duh?Next lets say you get the most awesome/incredible speaker...

The best speaker you ever heard?
Seas Excel Thors used to be the very best I've ever heard. Now its the Tyler Linbrook Signature System. I've heard almost, well not true, about half the commercail brands.... every major speaker starting in the 1970's. None comes close to the LSS ...
