Accuphase C-200 "COMP" button - What does it do?
That's exactly what I was thinking. I would be curious, literally just for curiousity's sake, what the boost is, frquency-wise, you know.Thanks.
To Cryo tubes or not to Cryo tubes
I replaced every tube in my Audio Innovations 500 integrated and it became an entirely different amp. I was running all JJ/Tesla, but when I swapped them out with the CryoValves everything about the the thing changed for the better.http://www.tube...
A simple question from the new guy ....
Three words for you - Half Price Books.Over time, I purchased all my Bill Evans albums (18 in all) there for no more than $4.95 a piece, and they're all in great condition. Okay, there was one that was $17.50 - "Bill Evans at Town Hall" - but c'mo...
Ideal cartridge for JVC QL-Y55F
I meant to add that what is currently on their is an Ortofon VMS 30 MkII. I think is sounds great, but there's just not enough midrange. The sound is like a valley, however I don't want to get all hilly with it, but a plain could be good, or maybe...
New Cartridge choice
I purchased a VdH MC One Special for my father's rig, and it sounds truly wonderful. With crisp resolution and a ridiculous sound stage (both depth and width), I think it's a great option.(And it won't break the bank)http://www.vandenhul.com/phono...
A simple question from the new guy ....
Here's the deal:The trade-off is simply absolute dead silence with compressed dynamics, or a tiny bit of surface noise and the occasional static "sizzle" (if you will) with wide-open dynamics. Serious pops and what-not were most likely due to the ...
What's the deal with the Machina Dynamica Clock?
In light of this lovely discussion, which I found after a search for the company's name...after seeing the $200 "highly modified" Timex clock, I just have to say here that I simply can't wait to unveil *my* new product. I call it "The Sound Idea."...
CD-ROM Transport
So I got the optical transmitter, installed it and ran TOSlink out from it to my DAC (and then out to the amp)...I got sound, but the speed is doubled, or trippled, or maybe even quadrupled - it's really fast. I've got some really slow-beat stuff,...
CD to DAC to DAT to DAC?
The DAT machine is able to accept both 44.1k and 48k rates. The darn thing is that the player (I guess I should be happy) has no issues playing through the external DAC.~mjm~
CD to DAC to DAT to DAC?
Dollysowner:There are no DIP switches on the 3800. The selector for digital/analog is on the front. It flashes, however, indicating a problem with the signal it sees, when set to "Digital" and the "Record" button is depressed.I simply don't unders...
CD to DAC to DAT to DAC?
Well, I think I may have wasted tread space here and I apologize. The deal is that I would like to have the DAT available for any source, like the old days with my Nakamichi, but why on earth would I do this with a CD (thinking of mix tape days) wh...
How could you go wrong for $240.01?
Look guys, I guess I just figured that in an age when folks spend loads of cash on everything from bags of sand, to jars of rocks, to wooden discs, $240+ on a tube amp wouldn't be all that crazy a thing to do.I did notice later that the $.01 was, ...
CD-ROM Transport
This is what I thought was interested and made me think, "If it's designed to this at extremely high speeds, then think of how quiet it must be reading a regular old audio CDs.http://usa.asus.com/products1.aspx?l1=6&l2=0&l3=0&modelmenu...
CD-ROM Transport
Well, for the heck of it, I purchased the SHARP GP1F38T module for a whopping $12, and an ASUS CD-S520/A5 CD-ROM drive (with it's *new* SSDD II suspension and anti-vibration system) for a whopping $18.Now I just need to get it all put together...I...
