What are the alternatives for Kimber and Cardas? I recommend contacting The Cable Company and start listening for yourself using one of their "loaner programs". There are several cables, and it's an extremely subjective thing.http://www.thecableco.com/Don't assume that price has anything to do w...
New Transport Suggestions for Bitstream DAC I highly recommend using a computer. Sounds great when setup correctly and more flexible with formats, as well as putting your digital music collection at your finger tips.
Peachtree iDecco 24/96 problem Does it work 4 u? What type of computer are you using? You might need to change the "midi settings" to 24/96 so the OS doesn't down mix?
Using Zu Def 2 I recommend staying with Zu. Those speakers sound awesome and have a character that's difficult to match.
This is no joke. Two audiophiles walk into a bar....oops....wrong thread.... ;)
Squeezebox Touch or Sonos ZonePlayer I think that Sonos is a better solution all around. More reliable, easier, sounds better and more flexible control options.
speaker and sub for 300b SET The Omegas sound wonderful! I highly recommend them. Any of the "5 Series" would work great along with a Deep Hemp.
Perfectwave Dac - computer audio options Don't rule out the "mini" toslink optical on the Mac Mini. When used with a polished glass optical cable terminated with a mini plug (no adaptors), the optical is better than most "audiophiles" give it credit. You say you have FLAC files, but iTune...
CD the new Vinyl In a world of compressed downloads, the CD is becoming the "modern day vinyl". I'm surprised to see records at several Best Buy stores. I think much if it has to do with the fact that we (humans) like tangible items that we can touch and hold.
Want to try Analog : A great starting point is the Rega P3. It's affordable and easy to setup. I've used several with the Naim LineStage with excellent results. Cartridges are like speakers, very subjective. I highly recommend finding a dealer that specializes in anal...
Mac Mini versus PC sonic differences, why? @Btw22: I'll send you an email about what SSDs I've had good experiences with. It has a lot to do with the "controller" used in the SSD design. Years ago only a small percentage of SSDs used good controllers, but it's getting much better, not to m...
The Hub: Here's some GOOD NEWS from the audio biz @Decibelcat: I've worked on projects that have been featured in AD and other architectural/design publications. People who spend the energy and money to have well designed homes don't want technology showing. I spend most of my time on projects ma...
Speaker Suggestions Stick with Rega if you like them. Rega makes smaller speakers that can easily be used as surrounds and center channels. As for subs, look into the new REL. They make an affordable T Series that sounds great.
OSX SNOW LEOPARD - Improvement to iTunes I fit SSDs into Mac Minis all the time. Improves the performance of the Mac and subtly improves sound quality. The new unibody Mac Mini can be upgraded fairly easy.I have listened to some power supply options for the Mini, but I'm undecided about ...
Mac Mini versus PC sonic differences, why? @Rgs92: A SSD will be mechanically quieter and allow the audio signal to sound better. It appears that when a standard hard drive is spinning up it puts more strain on the power supply, which effects the audio quality. It's subtle, but SSD consist... |
