Mothership - The Inspiration
Gonna need you some Doors, Radiohead, Tool, reach back in time and grab you some Cream, some Santana, do not ignore the Janis Joplin, the Robin Trower, Jethro Tull, pile on the Pink Floyd, come back closer to today to get some Pearl Jam and some R...
Wither Jimmy Page?
The sweetness of a blues guitarist, with the genius of someone who did things with the instrument that hadn't been done before.I'm still in awe of "The Wanton Song" thirty five years later! When he plays "Since I've Been Loving You" its pure emotio...
Artists that sound alike - your best match-up

Best Albums Of 2008
I like the picks I'm familiar with, and will try some of the ones I don't recognize. Thanks in advance for any monsters you may have turned me on to.Even though it was released on the last day of 2007, most of us were drunk and not able to compreh...
Ikea "Lyte" Rack... anyone with experience?
They looked solid, and even sounded solid; but when I cut into them they were hollow. You can use a thin nail to find out, or even a tiny drill bit. I even thought of making a resin and catalyst filling. Other guys (you have read the Lack Rack thr...
Ikea "Lyte" Rack... anyone with experience?
If you look at my Total Victory IV ad, you'll see how I used four "Lack" coffee tables. I got the brass cones from Parts Express; wasted one set of legs to do the base, doubled up the bottom shelf; used two of the undershelf boards (three sounded ...
Just when you thought it was safe to go 16:9..
Can you imagine playing "Pong" on THAT sucker???
Von Schweikert mentioned on TV
Was it the same show that used an Alexi Murdoch song? We all know that only audiophiles know about Alexi Murdoch ;)
Experience with BAT-VK-75SE and Wilson Sophia2?
I was starting to think I didn't like the WP8's. I'd heard them with ARC 220 Ref's and top of the line Thetas. Wasn't moved at all. Then, at the '07 Denver show, there was a Rex/150SE setup with the Eights that was one of the best sounds at the sh...
Speakers recommendations to use with a Cary 805
Von Schweikert VR4JR MkII's would be nice. They are kind of "tight", which would compliment the uber-tubiness of the 805's. The SR's would be great; but not in that room, I don't think. Both go to 20Hz with tight bass for two channel.
Having guarantee issues with KR Audio?
I love the Frankensteins. They just flat out please both the audiofool and music lover in me. These tubes were recommended (and sold to me) by Israel Blume himself, and he hasn't steered me wrong as of yet. I can't believe he would make an error a...
Help What's Wrong with my System
Could this be a case of wiring nasties? Check to see what kind of wire the house is wired with, and what appliances share the circuit you're using. You may have a great "excuse" to buy yourself some high quality dedicateds ;)
Wyetech or Coincident Frankenstein IIs
I've got the Frank II's, and they are incredible. The choice of 300 tube is crucial (especially, I would think, with horns). Israel Blume suggested the KR "Baloon" tubes, and I've never looked back (I'm listening through his Total Victory IV's). I...
after Valhalla, i changed to
I will say this: At all of CES and THE Show, the only place I saw Valhalla was in Klaus's room, where he was demonstrating the superiority of Odin!I got to hear (or not hear?) the Kubala Sosna cabling in the Wison Benesch/Dehavilland room at RMAF....
after Valhalla, i changed to
I like classic rock. I was fully vested in Valhalla cabling all around, including PC's, and pretty happy. I bought it all used on Audiogon. The Valhalla's were the high point of my system, to be sure. I knew instinctively early on that I wouldn't ...
