MC cart loading with 47k; why do some work well?
>>> I have a XV-1s, I'll have to give **4k** another go... <<<Typo? **47k**, yes! = NO loading! In the case of my Windfeld it produces the most hall/ambient information close to my trannie set-up, which is still my preferred set-u...

Hi Halcro,re-tip an MM, ja now fine... I guess you go get a new cantilever insert --- at least in my part of the world. Have done that to an e.g. SUMIKO Pearl and put the next better elliptical in it. Sound? SUX, unless we are into lower Mid-Fi to...

Yes, :-)... and what was your next question?OK, Dynavector(s) DV X1s I listened at the RMAF. Ortofon Windfeld in my system. (That massed instrument 'break-up' I'm busy with happens at any loading 100, 500, 1k, 18k, 47k) and 13ohm primary loading u...

MC cart loading with 47k; why do some work well?
Hi,one addition, I'm ONLY talking about LO-MCs in this post i.e. +/- 0.3mV. That HI-MCs are often (always?) designed go mainly into 47k is self-explanatory.Axel
Annoying Sibilance Problem
Hells Bells, great stuff!Doug, now you mentioned one that I actually have, and I know EXACTLY what you say. +++ Another tough challenge in a similar way is the 'La Boheme' on Decca/London with Renata Tebaldi. On any 'La Boheme' Mimi's first big so...

Thanks Raul,I hope this info is of value to the overall discussion also. I'll see what my 'messenger' will be able to 'dig up' in Munich...Greetings,Axel
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thanks Raul, now it looks like I have a project coming on :-)The 326S has a jumper setting for 40dB MM or 60dB MC and a 0nF or 10nF cap jumper. I can not have any other capacitances than this (easily). Will this become an issue in your experience?Axel
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul, you say:- First than all you have to have a good MM phono stage.-I have the ML326S phono modules and they have some good 'score' with e.g. German AUDIO magazine, so you tell me if those could work. But one caveat, I can not change input imp...
Annoying Sibilance Problem
Hi Doug, you say:>>> ... there's nothing wrong with that Allison Kraus LP. <<< Thank you for sharing that. I had a suspicion this COULD be the case. Certainly my system is not up to it (last track on side 2) in the current state.N...
Annoying Sibilance Problem

Thanks Dre,I will follow up on the Y-connector suggestion, some time next week the earliest. We used:2 pairs of single ended scope probes (4 probe/clamps) in differential mode. The scope was quite recently calibrated I might mention also. I have po...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul,I know there are some rather fine NOS MMs in your possession and I trust they are mighty fine -- better than Wurlitzer and then some :-)But here is a challenge: where do you get such in good order? And also replacement styli? I have listen...
cart measurement vs quoted spec
Doug,if a manufacturer would only share that easily your trash it and dump it approach. 10 thou out of centre, since you seem to refer here to optical inspection, is not to my current knowledge a reject criteria in THAT industry. Now if it helps, I...
