Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi all,as Raul rightly suggests in sharing of all information MM, let me do this with regard to one apparently lesser known MM: the "Townshend EEI 500, parabolic". Raul hasn't heard of it, so I guess it must be 'under the radar' :-).Initially it s...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Dgob,I only have one arm, the SME V. I do know that Raul is having his ZE/X re-tipped and he has arms and decks a plenty. So with a bit of patience he might let us know his findings, also with regard to your arm question, when his re-tipping is...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Dgobin answer to your question: I'm using an SME V arm, practically no damping, 1g VTF and about the same for anti-skate. I have tried to go lower in VTF, just for interest, but than it starts to sound like some too little loaded MC i.e. a bit ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi all,if we keep it coming like that, we might just beat that 'steam-cleaning thread' :-)Now,>>> The V15xMR continues to gather dust, in favour of the ***V15-111/SAS*** and the 97xE <<<This is some good news to my ears (eyes, so...
Dyna 20X?
Hi Thom,it's not my thread, but THANK YOU for a very insightful and detailed explanation, I say!I've listened to the XV-1s and it was hard for me to imagine how to better it, yet it's been done with the "t" as I understand. Alas that's again mega-...
whats the best way to reglue record covers
Hi,I have glued 100s of these and use Pattex contact glue (sparingly!). Hot melt is more tricky to keep thin and not squeeze out and then in need of trimming etc.Since usually one side has a foil lining I find contact glue is the best solution ---...
Dyna 20X?
Hi Jsman, what Tom says is of course right, in the sense that ANY 'better' cart (as long as it suits your arm!) will be expected to give you a 'better' result.Interesting is the 17D3 suggestion --- dealer disclaimer --- might have a little to do wi...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Halcro, you ask:>>> ... did you receive the photos and technical information I sent you on the Garrott P77 by way of Email? <<< Oh, yes! I did, and send you a reply also... was it lost in the mail?In fact I'd asked you for a pic ...
Dyna 20X?
Hi Jsman,I have tried the 20X-L with a Fidelity Research XF-1 type M. This has 30dB gain, (1:31.6 ratio) and is just a bit on the high side with 0.3mV cart output, though a 0.3mV Windfeld can work truly fine with it. The difference: 6ohm DCR for 2...

Hi Acoustat6,I found a Creed Taylor production that is truly worth listening to, -- if you can.Hubert Laws: "The Rite of Spring"you might have to smoke some weed first if you are not into funked-up jazz, or Stravinsky’s ballet suite -- and put the...
Well recorded records ... what are your picks?
Hi, following my 5 cents worth...There are stacks of contemporary pop with a lot of these picks as I can see, that's fine, but how about some funked up jazz e.g. Hubert Laws: 'The Rite of Spring' with Gene Bertoncini, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, ...

Hi all,Tidal Preos Price: $24,712.50 ---- whow! Made in Germany - ah so. -- Preos DC-coupled ***Symmetrical Class-A Preamplifier**: it says, but in the same breath they say it is a single-ended design, that's strange?Reviewer's quote: ... TIDAL fe...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi all,in answer to why do MMs have a more 'natural sound' and all that good stuff, let me put forward some additional hypothesis -- facts even? Some say, that NO MC will be able to bring forth the 'information density' of an MM, due to it's very l...
