Hi,the ML phono-modules in my ML326S must be really bad news, they ONLY claim +/- 1dB!A previously owned GCPH claimed 0.25dB (+/-?)The ML (in)boards sound better, hm.Now take any cart MM to MC and each and every one sounds different in the same ph...
Dedicated phono-pre for MM only?
Kirkus, since I was rather too curious, I did some back-tracking on the subject in some related A'gon threads. What I come up with is, for best sound for the $$$:1) 'affordable' phono-stage with MM2) good stage with MM3) good stage with SUT and MC4...

Hi D."The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived." ... modern day marketing (which incidently is my profession....So is that by any chance some kind of confession about your 'profession', and what you therefore keep telling us?
Killing sibilance distortion - VPI & Jubilee
Hi Doug, what is interesting here, that those ZYX carts have 15cu quoted, and Micro-ridge styli. Correct me if this is wrong. All these carts (Japanese) quote the cu at 100Hz and that means at least x 1.5 for the 10Hz value, to compare it to the res...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Lewm,:-) looks like those guys learned something after all... and from the Inquisition! No, we'll have no MC Inquisition, Raul is already testing MCs again. Be interesting to hear about his findings - presently they are still 'floating'. (The re...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
There used to be the "Hexen Hammer" aka "Malleus maleficarum" (Witches-Hammer) and used to deal with 'those'.(Dunk them, if they stayed afloat, they where guilty and got burned -- after they'd been dried first of course. If they sank -- to bad)We'...

Going with Dcstep's suggestion:what about listening to the Eagles Album: "hell freezes over", side 2, 1st cut, 'tequila sunrise' on Simply Vinyl, S180 VINYL LP.Might just be we then can talk about OGI (outer groove distortion)also?I get definitely...
Anyone heard Linn's new dc motor and step-up?

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Lewmsubject, (cart)Reformation :-)I think one must take note of one rather important 'parameter' in all of this. Raul mentioned it once or twice, "ear equalisation"If you are used to watching TV with the contrast turned up for a very long time ...
Dedicated phono-pre for MM only?
Hi Kirkus, during an earlier part of the MM, balanced vs unbalanced and common-mode rejection posting the SUT subject came up shortly. It may not fully relate to this thread, but let me try.You mentioned in your example a 50 ohm SUT input impedance ...
Why is the price of new tonearms so high
Tonywinscy.s.:>>> Have you ever tried a Koetsu cartridge? <<<Nope, I'll sure will some day when my pocket agrees. Right now I listen to an Empire S1000 ZE/X-ERD (oldie MM) and it makes more music than any of my previous MCs. Soun...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear Raul:have you found using a spacer can work between cart and head shell? Or will it mess with the cart/arm match i.e. not a recommended fix for very low arm positions required?>>> capacitance/impedance/VTA <<<Only VTA will b...
Why is the price of new tonearms so high
Hi Tonywinsc,SME V guy, ah so. Better treading easy in this here 'value unlimited art gallery' of engineering.I see we appreciate the same kind of 'muscle' and not only 'arms. At least I did not have to pay an 'artist's price' for my V, AND it does...
