Care for Painted Speakers I just take my Sophias to the car wash and ask for double spray wax.--Then I play the sound track from "Waterworld".
Floorstander or Sub/Sat I'm with entrope and his statement re.,not much music below 32. Most what we think of as low info, is in the 40's and 50's. But all speakers don't reproduce it with the same dynamics--Thus making these "numbers" inconclusive. One listening compari...
Differences in tube sounds: 6550 / EL34 It depends on the application; In some applications 6550's are similar to SS amps-- Audio Research, for example.--AND of course 'what el34' matters,2.
Recommended Amp for B&W cdm 9nt There are a lot of good amps in the "under 1k" category. McCormack dna 1-- Belles hot-rod-- Marsh 200 --Musical Fidelity--Gamut 100-- There are so many at/ below/ or just a taste above this 1k mark. You don't mention what U got now.
Do you care about the LOOK??? I read someone's discription of "Wilson Sophia" as being similar in looks to a trash can. After a couple of months I have grown attached to the looks---based on how much they please. Women kinda do that thing, too.
Buying Used-Ever wonder??? I'm wit' arni here.--2 good reasons #1 I'm cheeeep and #2 I'm lazy and need somebody to burn in 4 me (as arni points out).
Is bi-wire worse in some applications? For all the speakers I have ever owned / that were biwire capable---all sounded better with 2 sep. runs of the same cable---whatever that wire happened to be. The last 4 speakers I have owned, don't allow b'wire.
well-recorded country music recommedation I listen to Directv's channel 829, music station near 24/7 these days. Most all of it sounds pretty good to me.The reason my box sounds so good is I had Theta modify it with their digital board and a coax out. This dig. out goes into an Audiomecca...
Speaker Cable suggestions As a permanently jaded 'phile;I couldn't see paying that little for wires. Good luck.

Shootout: CJ Sonographe SA250 vs. Classe CA150 I have never heard either amp but I thought I would mention the amp I use--that being a Belles 150a ref.(RCA's only) Musical does describe this amp. One sold for 1200 last week and I'm quite sure it will clean the clock of either of these 2, you m...
