Audio GD R8 MK2 DAC
I have seen a few things that are useful from Audio Science forum. However, I have noticed that they are very firmly in the mentality that is common from traditional engineers: "if you can’t measure it, it doesn’t exist". They put a huge emphasis ...
I am looking for a high-quality HDMI cable for I2S from a CD Transport to the DAC...
The AudioQuest Vodka is pretty awful: bright, thin and “tinny” sound. Audioquest Vodka HDMI cable uses really tiny 30awg conductors.  This is why sound is so tinny and bright.

Sorry, I don't have a definite recommendation here because I don't have experience with i2s (which is a different beast).  The consensus seems to indicate that silver conductors work best here.  It would make sense because solid-core silver turned...
Coax Internet Cable: If I have to build one, what am I looking for exactly?
I have had excellent results using a F-Type ground loop isolation, like this one below: https://www.amazon.com/Ground-Loop-Isolator-Transformer-Eliminator/dp/B08FRGH4X2/ref=sr_1_17_sspa It's different than the filter mentioned above.  I think th...
Coax Internet Cable: If I have to build one, what am I looking for exactly?
I took a look and the Jade FX-Ag is a very expensive cable.  It is also listed as using a very small 25 awg conductor, which means that the F-Connector is not a true F-Connector but an adapter that I would assume has a 18awg pin. For much less mo...
Crossover help?
by the way, the capacitor will never test positive on a "continuity tester" because it's not really an absolute connection.  You can try testing for capacitance if you are an LCR multimeter.
Thank you millercarbon
Sounds like the sort of *Quality* product MC would *enthuse* about I believe I have also seen millercarbon recommend to people to take out the fuses from their equipment and substitute a hard solid copper bar/wire (i.e. no fuse).
Is JRiver still the best software?
FWIW, the C50 DAC doesn’t upconvert, just automatically adjusts to incoming bit depth and frequency. I'm sure others have different opinions, but I never like up-converting Redbook CD or lower bit rates to something higher.  It is a DSP process...
Thank you millercarbon
Why is this a fire hazard? I assume the conductors are covered in a slightly oversized clear Teflon tube…..right? At least this is another layer of protection. I doubt the copper conductors are naked. They would oxidize. Nope, they are naked ba...
750$ Intel NUC vs $6000 Aurender N200: I don't hear the difference
The following is not a definite root cause, but just an idea of what you could be experiencing.  You are using very high efficiency speakers (96 db) which have a silk dome tweeter (soft dome tweeter).  The soft-dome tweeters are sometimes more for...

SUGGESTION: if you could thread the entire assembly through a thick walled PTFE tube, it would solve the problems.  It would like pass UL certification at that point, but there's the big expense of getting tested/certified for legit purposes.  The...
Thank you millercarbon
ok, I’m going to have to be a warning/downer here. I took a look at this cable and the design definitely makes total sense, especially with the copper wires being 99% in free air. However, this cable is never going to pass UL certification. All it...
How to improve sound quality
When speaking to others online this is fine This could be a result of compressed bandwidth that typically occurs with voice-over-tcp/ip software solutions.  This could be masking the humm and clicks problems you have (but I cannot say for sure)...
If you feed a DAC with USB does XLR matter as much?
No, you are wrong, it doesn’t matter how well each input processes their independent signals they all have to go through the same OP amp output and to your power or pre amp. Therefore you should concentrate on matching your DAC output cables to w...
Buying a used amp ATI 1506 or Linn Chakra c5100 or RBH SA-200
If you can swing it, I would go for the ATI AT1506.  It's not actually a Class A amp.  It's a Class AB amp.  You want as much current capability and resolution for home theater, even if you are not going to use the power.  A bigger power supply ge...
