ABX testing with AQ Dragon power cords
The noise with neighbors in both your posts, the statement you claim the dealer has made, etc I doubt you have evaluated these cables   It isn’t that you can’t hear the difference. That’s probably the only plausible part of your post.
ABX testing with AQ Dragon power cords
@krelldog we’re going off of hearsay here. No one knows what the dealer said or if  the dealer even said anything. We’re just reading one side of the story at best.
ABX testing with AQ Dragon power cords
@dwcda I’m going to let the sarcasm in your response slide.  I’m well aware of what the AQ Dragons are. I also remember your adventure with a $80,000 Transparent cables where you also heard absolutely no difference.   So here’s my take on it…you ...
ABX testing with AQ Dragon power cords
I never heard the AQ Dragon but the Thunder, Tornado and Hurricane all made my system sound less coherent, with fatter bottom end and congestion in the soundstage. I have no AQ power cables now although I use AQ Diamond USB cable that I like betwe...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
Yes the default sounded best to me as well. And if I’m not mistaken when you play an SACD the filter selection is disabled. I didn’t like the other filters and dither options as they just didn’t sound right to me.  I would like to add though that...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
@immatthewj I would put my best cord on the amp first and try it there for a few days. Then return to stock on the amp and listen to few of the same tracks. Then introduce the upgraded cord on digital and determine where it performs best.
What is preferred/best contact cleaner these days?
Lol yeah I thoroughly read every word of the op. May be not…
A stupid question(s) about power cords
Enjoy....until it becomes ’not good enough’ once again.... 😏 @asvjerry this happens frequently. I won’t deny it. But then again it happens to us because we hear the difference and we want to hear what some other power cord or interconnect will ...
What did a good 10 MHz clock do for your Gustard R26?
@magon actually not a bad idea! I always go back to stock cables to set a baseline for a component’s sound when evaluating it. Aurender includes a very nice usb cable if you still have it, worth a try. Or just use any basic usb and power cord.  Aw...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
@immatthewj it’s definitely very possible.  So…when are you getting your upgraded power cable?
What is preferred/best contact cleaner these days?
How about a good ol’ Deoxit? Been using it for years so far so good.
Back to the DAC
@ervikingo thanks for your thoughts on LAiV! Keep running it around 200hrs is usually what DACs require for break in. Could still improve!  I was thinking of giving it a try…
What did a good 10 MHz clock do for your Gustard R26?
@magon interesting. So…couple of things… I’m also using Aurender, but N200, to feed my PS Audio DSD MkI. I have never experienced any brightness with it. The bass is prodigious. The vocals are velvety smooth. So there’s something there in the ass...
What did a good 10 MHz clock do for your Gustard R26?
@magon so by now you’ve tried 3 dacs. Gustard R26, your modified Gustard and the PS Audio DSD MkI. Just to summarize…R26 is dark and dull, the PS Audio is too bright, snd the modified Gustard is just right? This begs the question - have you tuned...
Sound Quality
@navyachts when you buy a hi-res album compare the sound of purchased file vs streaming of the same album. Just curious. I just don’t think purchasing downloads is necessary but hey…you can try and see if it’s worth it for you
