Speaker cables being pricier than main speakers one thing to keep in mind is that with more revealing/unforgiving cables, be it the ICs or the speaker cables, you will reveal the flaws of your electronics and speakers. Just try to keep the cabling on the same level as the rest of your system. F...
CD player modifications you're welcome
CD player modifications I changed the REL caps in my ARC LS-15 preamp to TRT Dynamicaps. Huge improvement. You can contact Michael Percy for parts and advise. Michael is a pleasure to deal with. www.percyaudio.com
i want a dull, caramel colored cd player any ideas go to the skeet range and fire 200 rounds of 12 gauge without earmuffs....that should turn the sound of any cd player into thick caramel syrup. when the effect runs out, repeat the trip to the range.
Can anyone recommend a smooth, rich CD player? My choices would be Meridian 508.24 or Audio Research CD2. Both will be what you're looking for but ARC will have better bass. Neither is bright or hyper-detailed. Both are very smooth. Ways better than your CD33 and will not sound bright on less ...
Isolation Theory Question FWIW, when I tried Vibrapods, they dulled the dynamics significantly in my system when placed under tube pre-amp. I sent them back because system sounded flat, rolled off at extremes and very uninvolving. If you have a tube pre-amp, I recommend He...
CD Player versu Dedicated Transport I would assume that using CD3 as a transport is a good idea since it has a very nice transport. My recommendation for a digital cable would be Virtual Dynamics NiteII(very smooth, well balanced cable) or Master(very lively, lots of dynamic drive, ...
Audio Research CD-7 versus CD3-mkII Arthurp, because I heard so much good about CD3 MkII, I purchased it. BTW, have you used your ARC players, either CD3 or CD7, with XLR cables or single ended into your pre-amps? CD3 MkII with XLR cables sounds significantly better than with the sa...
Opinions on speaker cable upgrade Satori Shotguns are very good. But why not consider Double Barrel if you want to step up? I think that is Hologram/Satori combo. Give Lee a call an see what he says.In any case, I beleive it'll be pretty tough to beat the Satori Shotgun.
audio research LS15 preamplifier I think Direct is a little flat sounding compared to Bal. But the difference is very small, you're right.
is it just me, new Steely Dan cd's too brite snare On Two Against Nature the snare drum is forward and very thin sounding. Has almost no timbre. Sounds like a cheap drum. Rest of the recording mix is fine.As a side note, I bought two of my favorite Steely Dan albums "Aja" and "Gaucho" remastered a...
Please, DON'T TOUCH Some people think that the tweeters atop my B&W N803s are karaoke microphones and attempt to remove them to start singing. I have my 1911 .45 ACP for those and I prevent the removal of the "microphones" beforehand.....just kidding. No really, t...
Audio drops out when I hit a light switch well you can also try a balanced power conditioner such as Blue Circle Music Ring MR800, but it'll work good for the DAC2 only. Using it with the amp won't get good results. Good part is that it's affordable and most likely may cure your problem.
Need help with picking a system: Cary, Wadia, B&W B&W are awesome speakers and in my opinion not overrated. The speakers are very sensitive to the upstream components and require very good electronics and cables to sound their best. They will not forgive any weaknesses in the chain. You're ai...
Pioneer CD & DVD as Transports Spencer you're welcome. I tend to agree with Jafox. I used Sony S7700 for a transport and I am pretty sure that if you take the S7700 and a VD NiteII or Master digital cables, this combo will most likely beat a dedicated and more expensive transpo... |
