What has been your most satisfying component? Can't say that they stood the test of time yet, but so far so good - ARC CD3MkII cd player and Pass Labs X250.5 amplifier. The component that stood the test of time in my system was an ARC LS-15 preamp - almost 7 years!
Help needed with 50hz hum/buzz in Tube system Weiserb, you have to take the coax cable out of the box. Disconnecting the receiver to preamp connection will not do. It is not on the connection level. Please take out the coax cable from the cable box and re-check.
Help needed with 50hz hum/buzz in Tube system Wait with the electrician. Try this first.disconnect the coax cable(cable tv) at its first point of entry into your house. Unplugging the cable box won't do. You need to take the coax cable out. Then put the ground pins back on the PS Audio cables...
Help needed with 50hz hum/buzz in Tube system it's probably a ground loop. You can either use cheater plugs or you need a ground loop isolator. Is the cable tv near by the system?
ac conditioner X250 amp is better run directly into the wall. I haven't had good luck with my X250.5 and Shunyata Hydra. For preamp and source, you may benefit from a good line conditioner.
Tube pre-amp pop I would recommend bringing your preamp to the dealer and check it there in their system.
Tube pre-amp pop It's the dealer you should ask for exchange, not the ARC.Does the pop sound quieter when the preamp is warmed up?
Symphony 5th - best recording I was kind of doubting they would play the 5th by Mahler or Shostakovich on the kids show.....even though little Einsteins, but still......I have Beethoven's 5th, conducted by Karajan on DG that is a very good performance and a good recording.
City dweller power cable & conditioner questions I live in the apt in NYC and am using Shunyata Hydra4 for source and preamp and plug the amp directly into the wall. No problems. For you budget look at Blue Circle Music Bar.Avoid these surge bars from staples. They are for computers. Sonically th...
Pass XA-160 and Avalon Eidolon Pass are great amps. Should do what you're looking for.Another amp to consider is the Levinson No.33H monoblocks. All the qualities you mentioned.
Replacing stock cables: where to start Jeff_jones, I use power line conditioner as well and the effect of power cords is obvious on the front end components. There are few ways to compare components and wires. I find it most useful when I go back from a better/"upgrade" cable back to m...
Replacing stock cables: where to start Jeff_jones, I found that difference between power cords on a certain component depends on several things. Just to name a few:1) the overall resolution of the system2) the quality of power supply in a given component.3) room acoustics(which also co...
Replacing stock cables: where to start Yep, I'd start with a source first. Get the best cable you can for it. Audience powerChord always worked well on any digital front end component I had. At your price point, for preamp check out Shunyata Diamondback and for amp Shunyata Copperhead....
How many us a Line Conditioner with a Big SS Amp speedy, if you happen to try your amp on it, could you please post follow-up. It would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
How many us a Line Conditioner with a Big SS Amp John, thanks. I was just curious if you ever compared with or w/out Hydra with the same cord. I did a test with the same 2 cords, Taipan Helix Alpha(except for 15a on amp and 20a on Hydra) and direct into the wall the amplifier sounds better. Not ... |
