Recommend me a DAC under 3k @kuhyay I used to have MoFi UltraDeck with Hana ML cartridge and Sutherland 20/20 MkII LPS phono amp. Nice table!!! The deck I’m using is a Bricasti M3 with Network card. You can use it as a Roon endpoint or use Mconnect app to stream Tidal and Q...
Should I Sell My ARC REF 6 and Get A Pass Labs XP-32 @welcher interesting as I haven’t seen this comparison before but it reflects exactly what I observed comparing Ref 6 and XP22. When I mentioned bass speed and definition and clarity, this is pretty much it with the XP vs Ref with Ref being slight...
Should I Sell My ARC REF 6 and Get A Pass Labs XP-32 @tonywinga I’d say moving in any direction between Ref 6 and XP22 is essentially a lateral move but it will come down to personal sonic preference, tube maintenance aside. Since the XP32 is a step up from XP22, going there from Ref 6 should be an...
Dedicated line (almost) @cagma7 standard home wiring is 14 gauge. Check to make sure. In any event I would suggest running two dedicated lines, 12awg each (10awg is obviously better but harder to work with) - one for the amp alone, another for source, preamp, phono, etc....
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection @goofyfoot Bryston BDP3 is not a bad streamer at all. It does have two things going against it though - 1) it’s raspberry pi based and 2) moose is not a great interface. As I suggested in my earlier posts, start with upgrading the ethernet cable. ...
Should I Sell My ARC REF 6 and Get A Pass Labs XP-32 @moto_man my speakers are Wilson Audio Sabrina. You can see my system with pictures in my profile. One other finding worth mentioning…the preamp section of my Bricasti M3 DAC is very good. Yet the XP22 beat it in soundstage and musicality/engageme...
Should I Sell My ARC REF 6 and Get A Pass Labs XP-32 I had the ARC Ref 6 in my systems for almost a month, courtesy of my buddy who let me audition it on its own and against my XP22. The amps are X260.8 mono blocks. The Ref 6 is an amazing preamp. It throws a big, holographic soundstage with images...
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection Here’s my take on it… Every active electrical device, be it a router, a switch or a copper to fiber optic to copper converter setup (2 FMC modules) will inject its own noise into the output. If you’re looking into a switch, the main objective in...
Really Long XLR bigtwin OP 824 posts 09-03-2023 at 10:55am @audphile1 Did you get Tony and Big Pussy to listen? 🤣 Big Pussy couldn’t make it. He’s busy feeding the fish
dac and streamer or seperates One other thing, the OP had posted a specific question. Derailing the discussion is bad form. Stay on topic.
dac and streamer or seperates @russbutton most of the seasoned audiophiles here have experimented with different streamers, DACs and network components. FTPing files and knowing how to do checksum in Linux does nothing for your credibility when it comes to audio. There is plen...
Really Long XLR @bigtwin LOL no of course I didn’t expect the Mogami to sound like the AZ Absolute Copper. It was more of an experiment to see if the benefits of freeing up space between the speakers can outweigh the differences in cables. I gave it enough time t...
Really Long XLR @bigtwin sounds like a good cable and has good connectors. Keep us posted on how this cable evolves
UPS Driver Literally Drops Package with New Hana Umami Red @cbl117 Do you know how many times this box was dropped without you seeing it? Don’t obsess over this. Knowledgeable dealers will have the cartridge surrounded by a good amount of foam and or bubble wrap in addition to the cushion provided by the ...
Audio Research LS2SE tube buzzing Shouldn’t be buzzing. Have you tried swapping the tubes to move this tube to another socket in a preamp and see if the buzzing follows it? |
