Bully pulpits Well I think everyone should check out those on this forum that comment immediately when a political comment is made. Either to condemn or support. Often those that complain most about political tangents on an audio forum are the first to keep the...
High Fidelity Sound Speaker No you really dont know your stuff. In fact the amount you get wrong is astounding. But keep monologuing to yourself for as long as you find this cathartic while the rest of us move on.
Bully pulpits Identification by tribe.
Bully pulpits Problem I have is it only becomes objectionable to many when a view is posted with which they disagree. It isnt that it is said as much as what is said. People who actually think for themselves are only those that follow a particular narrative. A ...
Kal was right! Without subwoofers, dont look to the Atma-spheres. Impedance is the issue not efficiency. I own MA-1s.
Back to Teo Audio cables as my last stand. A cable gives you a 300B tube amp sound? Why not just buy a 300B amp with a neutral sounding cable?
Gratitude and Thanksgiving Well I am thankful for the fact that secretguy isnt my dad, uncle, friend or even casual acquaintance.
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands Things will vibrate regardless of weight. Worst possible scenario is a speaker with thin walls that vibrates. What do you think the cabinet does when it vibrates?
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands There are actually people who dont live in houses?
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands Yeah I would tend to listen to the manufacturer rather than take the advice of hobbyists myself included. There is no one size fits all in this game and the requirements of a speaker are very different than that of a turntable. Take REL's advice.
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands I can think of any number of reasons why you wouldnt want a speaker (sub or not) moving even the tiniest bit in space. What happens to the energy when you put a speaker on springs? Or is it like the Harbeth theory that the energy is drained throug...
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands The think the real issue is what type of floor is present in your listening room, I have a dedicated room with wool carpet over concrete and I can see no reason in this case to do anything other than drain the energy by coupling.
Rel Does Not Recomment Isolation Stands This doesnt surprise me one bit. In just about every situation, especially involving speakers, it is a question of what is be done with the energy. At first glance it would seem to me that you should drain this energy, but some disagree.
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? Most of Thiel's speakers have demonstrated to me how a single aspect which I think is incorrect can sour the entire speaker and the listening experience. I could never get past the aggressive/forward quality of the treble. To me JT efforts to achi...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? Past attempts at DSP were abysmal failures, but perhaps significant gains have been made in the past few years. Funny I still dont consider DSP a viable option which is probably not wise. Just dont like the idea of DSP at a fundamental level. |
