I agree I have a Harmon Kardon 930 integrated bought in 1973. Still used for a preamp and sound is great.

My room also functions as a home theater so there's lots of leather chairs and wall hangings plus a acoustic tile ceiling.  My speaker are Maggie 1.7is

FeldmanBe careful with installing the A22+ in a cabinet. This amp can run very warm. Justly a headsup.

Hi CapI had to respond to your post because I've had the same quest.I have a mc250 to drive my Maggie 1.7i's and thought more power would be the answer. So I purchased the parasound p5 and a A21+. What a disappointing result. The p5 is a very good... 
Power Amp advice
I have had three sets of Maggie's. 2 1.7s and one 1.7i .started with a onkyo 805 reciever which was a high currant amp at 185 w @ 4 ohms. Oh. Than some sales man sold me a McIntosh mc 50 and that was an improvement but still no omg. Thank another ...

Yes getting my Maggie's set up after I have had to move them. They are so sensitive to placement.  
Tight bass sub recommendations
Hey Shcmitty1 I have my 1.7i's for 4 years and have worked on various ways to improve bass with most of the suggestions posted here. The problem is the Maggie's produce such a clean it's hard to integrated a sub without smearing the existing sound... 
Is now a good time to buy a pre-owned DAC?
