Graham Slee Era Gold V to Reflex anyone? Thanks a lot for the responses. Sounds like it would be a solid upgrade rather than a barely discernable one which is what I am trying to avoid. I'm not planning on tons of upgrades in the next couple of years but this one seemed worth considering.
Looking for a phono preamp I haven't heard it myself but a lot of people over in the UK seem to think that the Cambridge 640p is the best option in your price range. I believe it does MM and MC which is a bonus as well.
HDCD music suggestions??? Neil Young also has a bunch on HDCD if you are into his music. If you search "cd universe HDCD" you will get a ton of titles to consider.
stillpoints question There's no reason why not. At one point I had them under a DK integrated and they worked just fine. Also had them under an LFD amp which was fine but really didn't make much if any difference at all. Tubes would likely benefit more so than solid s...
Vienna Beethoven, Spendor 8SE, Adagio or VS VR4jr I haven't heard the Vienna or Spendor options but I did have the Adagios and VR4JR's at the top of my short list after listening to a good bunch of models in the same price range as these 2. I would say that it depends on what your priorities are,...
HELP Stylus Cantilever slightly bent to the left I picked up a Virtuoso wood a couple of years back used with low hours. It has a slight bend to the left as well. I noticed it from day 1 but it didn't seem to have any issues playback wise and it was a great deal so I decided to live with it. I h...
We Need an Affordable Record Flattener How many 16.5 cleaners do you think that VPI sells? Probably more than a few a year I would have to think. Of course, there are other methods other than a vacuum cleaner to clean your records but it seems to be the most common and popular method b...
Musical yet Detailed DAC Around $700 Although you would have to buy used to hit the price point that you are after, the Lavry Black DA10 would likely be pleasing to your ears. I have a CD23T as well as a Squeezebox/Lavry combo in my system and the Lavry does a great job in comparison...
Blu-ray format... Do you like it compared to DVD? I am always amazed to hear that some people don't see a dramatic difference between standard DVD and Blu Ray. To my eye it is night and day and if only my audio purchases were as dramatic I would be very happy indeed. I find that with Audio gear i...
XLR-RCA: Adapters or Custom Cable? Thanks again for all of the input everyone. I had to think long and hard before buying the Lavry unit which only has balanced outs knowing full well that there's no way that I'm replacing my current integrated which is single ended only. In the en...
Clearaudio Smart Matrix RCM? Thanks so much for all of the info everyone. I have just picked up a VPI 16.5 this afternoon and I agree that it is a great machine. It seems to be the "gold standard" in sub $2000 cleaners overall. I'm sure that the Clearaudio works well also but...
XLR-RCA: Adapters or Custom Cable? Thanks for the responses(for the most part). The Lavry is a Black DA10 so it only has balanced outputs. Others have reported that the Cardas adapters work well so I may end up going that route. From a technical standpoint, having a single piece of...
Autos with stock awsome sound systems; Recomend? I can't say that I've heard one myself but Volvo has a number of vehicles which have Dynaudio systems in them. It would definitely be worth a listen if that particular make of car is of interest to you. I just did a quick search and it appears as ...
your experience amp for acoustic zen adagio I'm pretty sure that there was a similar thread awhile back so you might find some good information there as well. If memory serves, the amplifiers that people were using were across the board and everyone seemed to be happy with both solid state ...
Opinions of people who have OWNED Adagio's I have had a pair of Adagios for a year and a couple of months. As has been commented before, they need a fair number of hours before they really come on song. I would suspect that more than a couple of pairs have been sold before being properly r... |
