Experience with Metrum Octave DAC
Received mine about a week ago as well, really love the way it sounds even with a bare Squeezebox Touch. Although it has been suggested that re-clocking and upsampling is required to get ideal results I'm not sure that I'll bother going any furthe...
DAC Magic vs DA10
Sorry, I have not done a direct A-B between these two but as a former DA-10 owner I think it's a no brainer in favor of the Lavry. In particular, the headphone output has to be a lot better than the Dacmagic. The Dacmagic is quite well regarded to ...
Solid State Phono Pre-amp Recommendations
I would also recommend the Parasound JC-3, I am running mine with a Delos and they work REALLY well together. Tons of gain and very quiet, good bass and lively fun sound. My interest was also piqued by the Sutherland 20/20 but the JC-3 is too good ...
Flac files on an iPod?
Apparently you can if you Rockbox it:http://www.rockbox.org/ I'm about 3/4 of the way through ripping my CD's to FLAC and I'm considering the same thing myself.
LFD NCSE and JL F110
There is a tape out on the NCSE which should work fine for line level if that's the way you want to run your subs.
Radio Paradise -- Good Stuff
Agreed, love this station.I work a day a week at home and I stumbled upon RP by searching for commercial free stations and it's great for background music for sure. Also, I have discovered a lot of new music through this station--the latest that I ...
Question about iPad and Squeezebox touch
Anything that shows up on the web browser control should show up on the app.Maybe search your music again in the settings on your PC?
Bel Canto DAC 2 96/24?
Are you running the touch wireless? When I got mine, I had to upgrade my router to get high res files to work via wireless. You could also try running the volume at 100% if it's not already-- could be a bit transparency issue.Maybe put the file you...
A sensible CD transport?
Saw the Bel Canto at the TAVES show in Toronto--looked like a nice piece. What is the price, around a grand?
Audiolab 8200CDQ
Yes, I have had mine for a couple of months now I think and I'm getting along quite well with it.Unless you are spending big bucks it's tough to beat and it is very versatile. Sold my CD player and DAC and haven't looked back.I found the Optimal T...
Audiolab 8200CD & CDQ
My understanding is that the 8200CDQ has some improvements in terms of the power supply and other internal items(can't recall exactly which) that were developed after the 8200CD went into production. In other words, even if you don't need the pream...
Do you ever wonder?
This thread shows that there is truly no accounting for taste.
Solid State CD Player under $2000
FYI, Naim does not offer XLR outs-- just DIN.I would think that Ayre should be on your shortlist as they are said to be designed with balanced connections in mind.Haven't heard any myself but there are definitely players in your price range.
Budget or Mid-Market DAC for Use with Naim HDX
The Naim crew were pretty big on the Lavry DA10 so that would be worth looking into.
Class A SS vs. Class A/B SS
The Adagios are already pretty smooth to begin with so you may find that a good class A/B design will bring some excitement to your listening.I posted the other day stating that I ran a pair of Adagios with an LFD LEII and NCSE with really good re...
