Amplifier for Krell KRC 3 - B&W 803D
I have the predecessor to the KAV-2250, the KAV-250a. Just because Krell is known for the bass control, doesn't mean that it is poor in the midrange and upper frequencies... The strongest attribute of the KAV's is the neutrality. Nothing is out of...
Thiel 3.7 vs 3.6?
The 3.7's are a substantial leap forward over the 3.6's and even to the level where the previous top-of-the-line model, the 7.2's were deemed no longer relevant.I own a pair of 2.4's, and yes, the 3.7's are way better, but also way more expensive ...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Right now, my Thiel CS2.4 are really making some wonderful music... Best I ever heard, well maybe not, but by far good enough to forget about that.
2 channel priority in HT Processor...who's is best
Krell 707, Classe SP800, Mcintosh MX150. All sound great (although slightly different). I Woukd say the Mcintosh would be the closest to the X-1
some home theater advice please
The BDP-95 does have a very good analog output stage, so this will work just fine for you.
Yamaha RXA1010 AV rec drive 4ohm speakers ?
Keep in mind that 4ohm doesn't always mean 4 ohm... Some speakers are 4 ohm nominal but dips well below that in certain registers.
What's the best pre-amp to use with the Acurus
A tube preamp sounds amazing with the otherwise slightly clinical sound of the Acurus.
NEWBIE need help understanding Seperates V Receive
Separates do offer benefits in that you have complete separating between power supplies, low current circuits, video circuits, etc. Plus you have great flexibility to add to your system, expand it, or change it. Moving and getting a big room so yo...
using non-hdmi home theater system with blue ray
This is exactly what I'm doing. Oppo BDP-95 via 7.1 to my Krell HTS7.1 and via HDMI to my Pioneer FPJ-1. Oustanding picture and sound. Really have no reason to upgrade
Older Pre/pro that offer room correction via 5.1?
The Krell HTS 7.1 does offers EQ, but no speaker calibration (if you mean automatic calibration).Honestly, I don't know of any older pre/pro that offers room correction/calibration? You might be better off with a newer receiver.
How to merge my 2 Channel and HT Systems?
I've done it successfully. You will need to spend some money on a really good pre/pro that won't compromise the sound. Krell HTS 7.1 sounds really good as an analog pre-amp, so that's the route I went.
Does a center channel have to match the front spke
In the perfect world, all speakers should be exactly the same. This is rarely practical, so usually the surrounds are different and very often the center as well.I would get a center that is designed to match your fronts... yes, you can get close ...
Krell HTS 7.1 vs. Showcase
Old thread.... yes, I've heard both, and although the Lexicon is an excellent unit, it always sounded a bit dry and lifeless to me, almost like it was holding back. The Krell on the other hand... well, that's what I ended up buying and have been u...
Krell HTS 7.1 Variations
You can have variations in what people paid when they bought them new... The original MSRP was $8000 if I remember correctly.
Lexicon MC-12 too out dated?
No, not crazy. That's a great price for a pre/pro that sounds really good. Just get a good BluRay player (Oppo BDP-95 has great DAC's) and use the analog 7.1 input and you'll be just fine.
