Ayre DAC vs Auralic vs Metrum vs Bel Canto Not a LINN dealer at all, just a fan of DS.
CD player to compete with my vinyl rig? With $1,000... you are not going to find even a used CD player that will compete.
Ayre DAC vs Auralic vs Metrum vs Bel Canto And the LINN Akurate DS would sound better than any of those units...
Berkeley Audio Alpha DAC Series II and Alpha USB You are doing your hi-res files a disservice using a USB connection at all. What does this unit cost? A LINN Akurate DS would be a better choice I think.
Subwoofer questions -- music only JohnkNot true... depends on the setup and the subs.
Subwoofer questions -- music only I am using PrimaLuna momo blocks, and run each REL Storm III as "RIGHT" and "LEFT" trus stereo. You could hook them up normally (as defined by REL) and just join the wires at the same terminal.
One sub or two? I owned a single REL Storm III, then added another and hooked up as true stereo. I like this setup. And I have owned several other REL subs - they are all awesome, but I definitely prefer the "ST" series over many of the newer models... I LIKE DOW...
what is the best sounding speakers for under 5000. Used Sonus Faber Cremona
A reasonably priced CD player with volume control I can understand that... that is a lot of CD's. I am curious how you catalog them so you can find the CD you want to listen to?
Is the Mark Levinson 390S still a reference player TmsoroskHave you compared? A current version Akurate DS will beat out most CD players under $20k. If you eliminate the disc, the laser pickup, the transport and all other issues that have to do with a typical CD player, you have gained a lot in te...
A reasonably priced CD player with volume control BTW... a pre-owned LINN Genki would be a nice choice - however... you cannot ever get service from LINN on it, even if you offer to pay... they are not supporting any of their CD players any more (even the Ikemi, which I also owned). They stopped ...
A reasonably priced CD player with volume control You do not play CD's on a DS, it is a DAC - just a box (no moving parts), which is part of why it sounds so good. You would rip your entire collection into hard drives via a program called dbPoweramp (free I think, or maybe like $10, cannot rememb...
Is the Mark Levinson 390S still a reference player Stop spinning a CD totally. A LINN Akurate DS will trash those players with 24/96 or 24/192 WAV/FLAC.
Defective REL G1 Subwoofers I have owned several REL subs... Strata II, Storm III, Q108.... all great subs. I currently run a pair of REL STORM III for my music setup. I have not had nay issues. I prefer the downfire setup of the older "ST" series subs and feel that they sti...
subs for Sonus Faber Cremona M floor standing There is really no better subwoofer to use for music than a REL. If you argue this, you do not know subwoofers. A JL Audio is great in a car or a home theater. I have a pair of Cremona towers and a pair of REL Storm III subs. |
