Vinyl vs. top-notch digital
>>06-17-11: Jdaniel13FWIW my "best" set up was the Scoutmaster with 9" arm<<Now it all makes sense. There are few arms that track as poorly as the JMW-9. And it rings like a bell.IMO
Magico Q3's at Goodwin's High End
Calm down sports fans.If you re-read my posts, this is my position:There is no correlation between a vocalist's physical size/stature and his/her voice. Nothing more and nothing less.It is irrefutable.I never mentioned musical instruments which ar...
Magico Q3's at Goodwin's High End
>>06-16-11: JdorisCould a petite person have a petite voice<<I guess you'd have to ask Celine Dion, Linda Ronstadt (in her younger days), and Barbra Streisand.Next question>>Does a mandolin sound "smaller" than a double bass?<...

I'm running a DL-1 through a Pass Labs phono stage using the 76dB setting with satisfactory results.I found the 66dB setting acceptable but not ideal.YMMVdealer disclaimer

$1000 upgrade. Opinions?
Dedicated AC lines and/or a phono cartridge.IMO
Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
I could have you audition 10 cables of various compositions and you wouldn't have a clue if they were copper, silver, gold, or a combination. No way, no how.But nobody else could either. The conductor material plays a very minute part in the sonic...
Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
>>06-11-11: Dave_bpure silver cables are not the most musical choice<<Wrong.Actually the geometry, conductor purity, and dielectric are vastly more germane to the sonic signature than the conductor material itself.
Shuguang Treasure tubes....
>>01-23-11: Pubul57What the heck is a PSVane and where do we get them?Shuguangs's reference line of small signal tubes. Grant Fidelity carries them too<<I just picked up a pair of 12AX7 from an alternate supplier; will fire them up nex...
Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
Interconnects definitely need to be warmed up.Cable foreplay is a necessary element of the complete audio experience. The female connectors may take a bit longer to reach peak performance.Good luck.
