birdland odeon-Ag VS Perpetual Tech P1A/P3A/P3 "do you know anything about Benchmark DAC1? how do those two sound different??"I have not heard the Benchmark DAC. Only got feedback from customers that do shootouts. No comparisons to Birdland, though.

Looking for advice on amp/pre amps... The best solution in your pricerange is a Panasonic SA-XR45 or SA-XR70 (due out shortly). These are around $400 and give you 100 watts per channel. They can be modded for around $1000-$1200 and sound superb once modded. You will not be able to ach...
Chord 64, ECD-1, Audio Logic, Dodson DAC opinions Dodson is the best unless you are after a "warm" sound, in which case the ECD-1 would be the best choice. If you want the "tubey" sound, the Audio Logic is a good choice.

Special digital cable needed? 75 ohms characteristic impedance is beneficial, but not necessary. If you want to minimize jitter, then stick with 75 ohms and get a 1.5m length minimum. Ask someone with digital and transmission line experience for advice. Read this article I wro...
Modifying a cd player to use as a DAC Non-trivial, but it can be done. Probably requires adding a CODEC chip and some switching logic for LRCLK, BCLK, SDATA.

Need opinion for Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai? The PD-65 is old technology in comparison. The DV-47AI is better in every way, except the stable platter. Much more mod potential as well.
Monoblock Suggestion? The problem with Innersound, Coda and Continuum (all designed by the same guy) is that they dont use global negative feedback. This makes them very airy at the HF, but at the expense of bass control. I have three Codas myself that I use for HT.
Monoblock Suggestion? "Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Parasound Halo JC 1 ?"Sure, I have owned a pair for 2 years. Initially they were my reference until I modded some older Adcom GFA-585's. They gathered dust for about a year until I finally modde...
I Don't know JAC about DAC.... help please DAC's are for CD's only. You might consider getting one that you can add a USB interface to later when you move your music to your laptop or PC. And dont be reluctanct to buy a used one. They dont wear out.
DAC Help for Rock, you need dynamics, not warm, soft sound. Try the Birdland Odeon-lite. Great right out of the box. One of the few DAC's that sounds good even without mods. The others like this are too expensive for your budget: Electrocompaniet ECD-1 and...
