Modern day equivalent of KEF 104.2s? Th only speakers that I have found that image as well are the Dali model 4 and 5. This is why I modded mine. Now they beat Dalis, even the new KEF reference series.
New Solution for PC Audio I've heard Brystons decoders in their SS processor. Was not impressed. Better off to have a good quality USB to S/PDIF converter that eliminates the S/PDIF cabling.
Digital Amps - Your opinions and why so few? Panny - an improved after-market power cord is beneficial. There is no "synergy" with this amp. If you have good speakers, they will sound good with this amp. This amp will drive any speaker well. The mods that I do improve:1)output filtering stage...
Zero feedback amps CODA's. The disadvantage is that the output impedance is not as low as a global negative feedback amp. It will not have as good bass control.

Advice on Setting Up A Laptop-Based Audio System? The Transit that I use is modded and outputs coax S/PDIF. It is superb sounding. I use Foobar and ASIO4ALL plug-in to avoid Windows mixer.
My DVD player really heats up discs? ? Ellery911 - There is one chip under the head on the 963SA that gets very hot. A heat-shield mounted to the carriage will probably fix this. I intend to add this to my mods for the 963SA.Steve N.Empirical AudioManufacturer

Digital Amps - Your opinions and why so few? The ZR1600 fan noise is easily remedied. It can also sound superb with the right mods. See this recent shootout article:http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?t=13174
Digital Amps - Your opinions and why so few? Panny - your XR45 can sound as good as the Carver ZR1600 with the exception of bass control. This is the only edge that the ZR1600 has over it, once they are both modded anyway. This is the only way that I will listen to either one. Before mods, I...
Advice on Budget System for newbie I would highly recommend the Panasonic SA-XR45 or the new SA-XR70 (avail. in Oct). These are in the $400 range HT receivers with 100 W/chnl digital amps for all channels. They can be run digital in to out and sound good stock, but are superb when ...
theta tlc between transport and dac benefit? The DIP is designed well, but implemented poorly. It really needs mods to sound good. Also, the clock in it is not stable, and this is the whole reason for it's existence. If the clock is replaced with a Superclock2, it works very well.
What's the general concensus on Wavac amps? If you want the best that tubes can be, this is it.
Digital Amps - Your opinions and why so few? ZR1600 is a good choice for planar speakers. There are several mods available for it. I compared it head-to-head with JC-1 monoblocks and it controls bass better than any amp I have heard, including the JC-1's. Here is a recent shootout:http://www... |
