Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
@mikelavigne "large scale systems, such as mine, in a purpose built, dedicated, 21’ x 29’ x 11’ room with plenty of driver surface, power grid and amplification headroom"That's no room...(say it with me..) that's a space station!
Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
"you will never know how heavy metal recordings are suppose to sound unless you hear them on a good large scale system."Yes, like, when we scale-up to stadium seating.  I question how it is we expect to experience rock concert reproduction at home...
Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
My good friend loves heavy rock guitar, screaming riffs from Prince or orgasmic mashups from classic Springsteen or Bowie.  We'd jam those vinyls and CDs all night long.  No problem.  Then I moved in 1.7i Maggies into my rig.  Whoa.  What went wro...
Record Cleaning Machines
I am waiting for my shipment of a Humminguru Ultrasonic Vinyl Cleaning Machine that was launched by a Kickstarter campaign at the end of 2020: https://humminguru.com/    The tech/specs look good (40 KHz) and the machine also appears solidly built....
To Stream or Not to Stream
sns850, I haven’t looked into yet, but I’ll wager that like today, people in the 30’s and 40’s received radio and its broadcasts of music as a godsend of convenience and economy, compared with having to physically go to concerts or buy music to pl...
To Stream or Not to Stream
Wow, how the mighty have fallen.  Streaming, or rental music as I call it, has won the day here at last.  Well, you stream, I stream...we all...you get it.  It's convenient.  Its cheap. It sounds as good or better than whatever that was we were do...
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s.
I’m listening now to a stream of the Temptations’ "My Girl". It was "new music" when I first heard it in 1965, I was 13 years old. It meant little more to me then than a good dance/party tune. Cool tune, but, eh, no big deal. That is definitely NO...
Interesting thought
Just invite more younger folks (family members..friends with younger kids) over to hear your system.  Play their music.  Don't push the equipment...let them ask and keep it simple.
Best DAC / Budget
Shitt dacs don’t do MQA.  They’re still great, but you have to weigh that going in.
For all you Vinyl lovers!
Yep, I’m new around here, but I like what I see. Thanks for the confirming words. I really do sometimes wish I could enlist more people to share with at home.  People are just won’t slow down. If they only knew: vinyl is medicine for what ails ‘ya.
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse
My hearing issue is really more with getting the listening area dead quiet!  Like never!   Don’t know about any of you, but I’ve got full on LAX-level noise from other humans in the house.  My system can easily crank up to destroy all competing so...

How Do You Live The Audiophile Life
Thanks, BrettMcee!   Really appreciate the encouraging words, and suggestions. Speaker placement is a little limited but there is room to work it more, try some things out.  I’m fascinated with integrating DACs into the system.  My first opportuni...
How Do You Live The Audiophile Life
Hello All,I too am beginning my journey into audiophile land and could think of no better way to start than to sign-up here and start my education.  I come from HT as a film lover with a significant investment there.  But as the film scores and so...
