Thinking about getting a R2R DAC ML36 is what 25 years old? In 2005 that would have been considered old tech and not nearly as good as new stuff. Suddenly is is great again? No.Both your DACs are good but you prefer one. Much different implementations. One thing that has changed ...
The secret to a great amplifier... Simao if you are only willing to accept wrong answers I am sure you will get lots. That fuse isn't even close to the most limiting part of the power pathway.
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot How about you do the math and show my results to be wrong .... I am confident the numbers are more than close enough to accurately portray the situation not to mention that virtually every reputable cable vendor that uses actual engineering concur...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp ) Not seeing how balanced negates the transfer function of the cable unless you are assuming lower source and load impedance. The noise rejection is obvious of course.
The secret to a great amplifier... The thread already appears to have created a suppository effect Noble100.
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC There is no reason for an R2R to sound better or worse than a non R2R. It's all implementation including the up front signal processing. There is a reason why you may like or dislike a NOS DAC though and it is not because it is more accurate.
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot Math is your friend.9.5 feet of 14awg solid core, skin effect at 20khz adds about 0.01 ohm of added resistance. However the wire was stranded so this will be quite a bit less.20khz zip cord speaker wire 14 awg, 9.5 feet, inductance would add 0.3 -...
1st Post Intro & Ramblings Timing will be "aligned" as long as the two speakers are equal distance to the ears. There really is no other alignment. Most of it is a balancing act between direct/reflected, and shadowing function of the head to the other ear. The first heavil...
Step me up from Paradigm Studio 20 v4 bookshelf, seriously. This is sort of like saying I would like to buy a new car. It has to be blue ....The most distinctive things about Paradigm has usually been pretty flat response, good off axis, and they play pretty loud undistorted. and pretty good value for the ...
1st Post Intro & Ramblings There is nothing "golden" about an equalateral triangle at least for sound. There is not a lot to justify it. So much is dependent on speaker dispersion, the room, etc. that using it as a starting point can have you hopelessly away from ideal that...
AB Testing Experiences No Millercarbon I have not conflated anything. I said tonal balance. How we perceive a sound is based on how we perceive a whole set of frequencies that make up said tone or sound. That is absolutely impacted by volume. That is irrefutable. It’s h...
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot Exactly Zavato.Teoaudii, that is why good engineers design for stability and hence properly applied even with a complex load distortion can be much less (even or odd) with negative feedback than so called linear amplifiers which are only somewhat ...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC Most audiophiles are old and here that is just fact. Older people have significantly reduced high frequency range almost as a rule. Again just fact. You are literally anthropomorphising an electrical signal not to mention interchanging sound and el...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC What do you think aliasing is? Please don"t tell other people they are hopelessly inaccurate when you don’t know the subject matter. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/5495907More your level see paragraph 2.https://sonobat.com/understanding-alia...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC I have noticed that older audiophiles seem more attracted to NOS DACs. I suspect the artifacts compensate for loss of high frequencies that can give a sense of space to recordings. It bears out in the subjective opinions given.Remember not about ... |
