Different R2R DACs
Responding to Charles1Dad. I wasn't extrapolating; I was asking.
Different R2R DACs
Thanks Melm. I have an LPS for my DAC. I've had a tube pre in the past, a Schiit Freya+, but it added to much distortion for my taste. It could be that I prefer a really clean sound.
Different R2R DACs
My sources are a Zotac fanless pc set up as a Roon server and a Cambridge CXC transport.
How much does power amplifier really matter comparing to other hi-fi components?
As between pre- and power-amp, it's really a question of what kind of sound you like (warm, analytical, bassy, slightly rounded edges, etc.) and then carefully matching components, within your budget, to get that sound. You can combine a relativel...
Analogue from Digital
Thanks to everyone who responded to my initial question. I'm leaning towards confining my future vinyl purchases to true analogue recordings, buy CDs of digital recordings by artists I really want to support, and stream the rest.
Analogue from Digital
To be more specific about my own conundrum. I generally prefer vinyl. I have a number of recordings on both CD and vinyl where the analogue is so obviously better, it's almost a joke (compare, for example, the 2019 Blue Note/Solid State vinyl rend...
Looking for new speakers for large audio room
I have a pair of customized Tekton Double Impacts with ribbon tweeters in a large room and couldn't be happier. Tremendous bang for the buck.
RE: the question: ":Why do forum interactions become contentious". . .
I've had a couple similar experiences in the forums. I'm accusing no one, but I encourage everyone to remember that passion for this hobby is not a license to treat others disrespectfully. Some people know more than others about certain things, bu...
Which Harbeths?
I listened to both. I bought the C7 and have never regretted it. A lot of people assume incorrectly that the C7 is an odd duck in the Harbeth line-up, but Alan Shaw has explained that "the C7ES3 is actually the oldest Harbeth design in the current...
System building; a meditation
First, I don't think one can put budget constraints to one side. They are the very first consideration, for the overwhelming majority of us, in system building. Then, it becomes a question of allocating the budget across the various components of ...
Poor Customer Service
I bought a new Parasound JC2 from a great local dealer. Unfortunately, it had a defective power supply. I sent an email to Parasound, to which Richard Schram personally replied. The next day, a new replacement was on its way to me, even before I p...
Is There A Reason for Mono Amps for Ultra-low Noise Class D Modules?
It is likely for practical reasons - easier to place, more heatsink area, easier to repair/troubleshoot, shorter speaker cables, etc. It's hard for me to imagine that two boxes of the same size would be easier to place than one box in a room. T...
What Integrated Amp do You use
I have several systems, but only one featuring an integrated amp, a Peachtree Decco 125SKY in my bedroom system powering a pair of old Snell Jii speakers.
