Is it all worth it?
Enjoy your speakers, Maps...*S*  Simple pleasures...and cost effective. ;)Think of it as a form of recycling.

...and 'Perfect' is a highly debatable concept and construct....*S*We've all seen what happens when we go poking at that third rail. ;)Ultimately, we like what we listen to.  If we don't (for whatever reason/rationale), we change it.  It's the fou...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
On a hysterical note, the original Ohm cones used aluminum.  The center third of a 'F' was mated to a titanium top with a paper lower.  The 'A's were 3/4's +/- alum. on the bottom with a titanium top.  The cones had (and have to have) a rigid enou...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
OMG...I'd hate to be and have 'the last word' on this subject...The fire dies if not tended.  Music will continue...the 'appreciation' of it will evolve, as it always has.  There will be a future, the shape of which we can only guess at, but that ...
Is it all worth it?
Mapman, I can relate to your impressions...  Due to age, 'changing fortunes', and the price of 'high end' components becoming stratospheric and subtle to the point of near mania, I walked away from it for a time.  I'd look at impressive and/or ele...

Y'all are 'going negative'...stop it.  Things change...not always for what one may consider better, but if you look hard enough there are still things occurring that stand as 'bright spots in the gloom'.  LP's are 'trending'...there's niches out t...
Just moved to an apartment need speaker suggestions
Pay attention to placement, as your neighbors will hear a bass line before anything else....Maggies, Yes, good call y'all.  But a dipole in a small space could be problematic.  A decent bookshelf on a stand, smallish towers...Consider active EQ fo...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
t8kc...A 'permanent fix', if left to the spouse, might be a pillow applied late one night. ;)  Or some sort of involuntary therapy....You might try a common ground.  TV's aren't known for being all that 'clean' when it comes to being 'sanitary' in...

ct...Oil? South.  For the time being, anyway.  The low prices @ the pump simply forestalls our being weaned from the stuff before it becomes rare.  HO:  It'll attain that just about the time the climate really gets everyone's attention, which is w...
Will a RCA to RCA adapter hurt the sound?
*L*  It's getting to the point that the only things not made Elsewhere......is Us. ;)

ct0517...*G*  Due to your 'post experience' (1.5K+), I'll bow to your observation that some other forum will wreak AG Armageddon before this one will.  So I'll back your bet, based on that... ;)I'll be not so secretly pleased at least that the tan...
Are Ohm-Walsh micros and 1000 series disrespected because of omni-directional design??
I can't resist being the devil's advocate re this forum...I like omnis.  Having heard the original Ohm's decades ago, I was enthralled by what I heard.  Never could afford a pair, never had the space to live with them either.However...the current ...
Will a RCA to RCA adapter hurt the sound?
MHO, if you're running esoteria equipment and you've got the 'ears' to hear such, you've already noticed...But, agreed with the above comments, replace with full length when you can see doing so.  It's just more 'sanitary', less potential for need...

Rauliruegas, re your 2/14 2:19pm post...Yep, agreed.  An air bearing arm, properly set up, in MHO, just seems to have less 'compromises' in play then any pivoted arm.  As to less bass, well, that's one out of how many other observations that can b...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
Activity varies with the topic, MHO.  With the advent of 'PC-fi', there's interest in adapting one's current system to the 'new standard of standardness'; that's where there's the typ. 'Q&A' happening.  Those who've made a substantial investme...
