Non Audiophiles are funny people I befriended a local computer tech who is also a musician like myself. He is into pro audio and so I thought we had some common ground. He came over to set up my network and asked to hear my system (CJ & Theta). He was impressed to the point w...
Is bass-expander really good for stereo system? Simon> I have been researching this same problem (lack of bass weight). I was considering a sub and still am. However I found one thing that has given me more bass is a dedicated circuit. Let me say that I was skeptical and put in the circuit p...

Conrad-Johnson PF-R Preamp Review Summary? Abe> The only way I know how to describe it is that it is totally transpsrent. The only thing I have a-b'd it against is an Adcom GTP450 which I use in a bedroom system. There was no comparrison. It wasn't like removing a sheet, but more like r...
GRANITE 657 CDP anybody heard it? Stephen> I was hoping someone in the know would address this issue. It is a pleasant surprise and welcomed information. Art
Best "Used" Audiophile speakers for 1000-1500 I agree with Sean . I watched this tthread develop since yesterday. My first instinct was to say that all speaker manufacturers make a speaker in this price range so take your pick. I refrained from being a wise guy waiting for Sunny to answer Sea...
GRANITE 657 CDP anybody heard it? I had considered the 650 prior to the intro of the 657. I also ran into the same problem of not enough info (reviews)to go on. I am glad to hear of Racer's positive experience. The biggest reason I did not audition the Granite was the lack of cont...
may i put an hdtv over a fireplace? Why sure you can. Don't listen to the above posters. They are just jealous cause they never thought of it before. I bet most of them are hanging their's above the fireplace as I type, just trying to be the first to post how they love the way their...
Do CD-R's play on your player? If no, why not? When burning a cdr you must close the session before it will play. Some software allows for the burning of the disk and leaving it open so that you can add more at a later time. I don't think cdrw's will play on anything except computers. probably...
Best rack that can be built into the wall Rivercity> Check out the Standesign as mentioned by Tigger. It may suit your needs. However if you are putting this in a wall where you will have access to the back from another room, you could probably get a local custom cabinet shop to build ...
Help with CD player 1000 I own the Theta Miles (unbalanced) and am very pleased with it. As to your concerns about the analog volume control being old technology; I don't think old necessarily makes it bad. The analog volume control is supposed to be better than digital a...
Digital Shootout I have the Miles and am happy with it. It does all things well. Great bass, a must have if you're a rocker although it does all genres of music well. It is forgiving of poorly recorded cd's. There were cd's that were unlistenable before Miles. Tha...

Help with new speakers You MUST check into Silverline Sonatas. Fantastic mids, great imageing(sp) works well with tube or SS. Retails for 6k but I've seen them for less on Agon. The Mkll has 2 woofers and offers better bass than Mkl but that's the only sound difference. |
